About Banashankari, Bangalore

Known to be one of the largest localities in Bangalore, Banashankari is located on Mysore and Kanakapura Road. It earned its name as one of the smartly planned neighbourhoods in Bangalore with various block levels. It also shares its neighbourhood with Girinagar on the west, J P Nagar on the east and ISRO layout, Padmanabha Nagar on the south, and Basavangudi on the north.

About Locality

Banashankari is strategically located at the junction where the outer ring road meets with the Mysore and Kanakapura Roads. Excellent connectivity to other localities and prominent projects from well-known developers like TATA, Sobha Heritage, and Prestige group have made this a popular residential hub too. With excellent facilities in and around the area, good public transportation options are all the USPs of this location. It is also a premium location, and the houses of many celebrities can be found here.

What’s Great about Banashankari?

Banashankari is closer to The Global Village Tech Park, which is at a distance of 8 km. The Electronic City too is located at a distance of 20 km from here. The nearest metro is the Namma Metro, at a distance of 4 km. Most properties here are apartments, villas, and various land parcels. The property is also hugely popular for rentals, and one can find excellent houses, flats, and even paying guest accommodations for rent here. Most of the areas within Banashankari receive water supply from the Cauvery River. 

What’s Not Great about Banashankari?

Some areas within Banashankari do not receive a Cauvery water supply and depend on paid water tankers and borewells. Waterlogging is a very common problem during monsoons. Residents also complain about uninformed power cuts during summer. Some of the roads here experience severe traffic congestion during peak hours.

Banashankari is very easily accessible from every part of the city. It is connected to the city via the outer ring road, and it sees a lot of traffic during the morning and evenings. Though the International Airport is at a distance of 50 km, one can hire a cab to reach there without any hassle. I lived here one year back. Banashankari has many well-known commercial spaces, and Kathriguppe is the main commercial area. I got all the household items near my house. The air was not more polluted than in other megacities. The locality was also clean. The transportation was well maintained in this locality. This locality has a good connection with all of Bangalore's main points. I got auto, cabs anytime, and d-marts at a short distance.
