Bareilley East is a prominent region in the city of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the most well known cities in India and also a major political seat in the state. A region teeming with life, there has been a number of developments in this region in recent times.The city of Bareilly is situated on the Ramganga and is also known as Nath Nagri because of the number of Shiva Temples located all around the city. The city also holds a very important place in furniture manufacturing and a major trade center for cotton and sugar. According to mythology, modern Bareilly is the site of Panchala, the birthplace of Draupadi in Mahabharata. The site of Ahichchhatra was considered to the capital of ancient Panchal as is still to be seen in the northern part of the city. Later, Bareilly was also a major seat of power under the East India Company and a mint was situated here. The cantonment here was also one of the first to rise against the British during the revolt of 1857.
