Jamshedpur’s Corporate Sustainability Department has announced a new achievement in 48 new bird species in Jamshedpur. The event was focused on birds of Jamshedpur, held by the Corporate Sustainability Department in association with Tata Steel Zoological Park at the foothills of Dalma. The prime purpose of this occasion was to identify bird species and learn about the environment. As Tata Group Companies never fails to find a great opportunity to promote sustainability, this bird sanctuary programme went the best with the stakeholders and the worker’s massive involvement.
The higher authorities of Tata Steel Zoological Park shared the thought of encouraging lifestyle change and also emphasising the importance of a sustainable future. Therefore, this year’s “Sustainable Month Celebration 2022” theme was “BeEarthSmart-Learn, Live, Lead”.
This bird species in the Jamshedpur programme had 100 wildlife socialists as participants, with two different sessions held on the subject to educate the invitees. The initial session went with bird species identified randomly based on tracking done at the 2 km range of the foothill. The second and the final session was based on sharing the experience and learning from the tracking performance at Tata Steel Management Centre (TSMC). Various bird names were given to the participants, such as Oriole, Hornbill, Kingfisher, Tree Pie, Pitta, Woodpecker and Stork. The event commenced from 5:30 am till 9 pm on 26 June 2022 with numerous enthusiasts who not only participated there but also discovered several other bird species in Jamshedpur.

Dalma Bird Sanctuary, Jamshedpur
Dalma is a district situated at a distance of 13 km from Jamshedpur’s Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary. The locality is popular for its artificial lake bodies and calming nature elements. The forest surrounding the Bird Sanctuary in Dalma covers the campus with its shredded leaves in autumn. The monsoon provides a blissful view with greenery on its arrival. Geographically, the destination falls in the” Northern Dry Mixed Deciduous Forest region and the “Dry Peninsula Sal” region.
