If you are intrigued and fascinated with the supernatural and relish the thrill of experiencing the same, this blog is definitely for you.

Bhangarh Fort

The warning signs from the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) forbidding tourists post sunset outside this fort is enough to rank it high on the list of the most abandoned houses in India. The Ghost town, Bhangarh, is perhaps the spookiest place that lures visitors from near and far even after those cautionary signs. Built-in the 17th century by Man Singh I, Bhangarh was a flourishing town dotted with Havelis and palaces.

However, the kingdom soon saw its downfall, and legend has it the place was cursed by a hermit named Baba Balu Nath, who lived near the fort and approved for construction on the condition that any building of the fortress should never cast a shadow on his house. But the descendant prince ignored the rant, and the curse came true as the city crumbled into ruins. The wrath of the saint!

There’s more to these frightening stories, including the tales of wizards that jinxed Bangarh and its devastation. So, if you want to experience the thrill of this place, visit the fort by 6 pm, certainly not after that.

 Charleville Mansion In Shimla

Shimla, the lush beauty of the mountains, has some hidden mysterious abandoned houses. Among them is Charleville Mansion, built in the British Era and rented in 1913 by British Assistant Railway Secretary Victor Bayley & his wife. The couple decided to house Charleville Mansion owing to its location and low rent. However, to their horror, there were poltergeist activities they were unaware of. After hearing the stories, the owner decided to test the authenticity and locked the room. The following morning he was astonished to find it shattered, and they vacated the house. The highly-acclaimed Rudyard Kipling shared his experiences in his book My Own True Ghost Story.

Kuldhara Town Houses Near Jaisalmer

A few years back, a Rajasthan tourism advertisement created quite a fuss by promoting Kuldhara- a deserted village in Jaisalmer. This spooky town was once a thriving village in 1825 inhabited by the Paliwal Brahmin community. According to the legend tales, then Prime Minister of State, Salim Singh, wanted to seek the village chief’s daughter, but when he refused, the minister threatened people to pay heavy taxes. After that, the entire village disappeared one day to escape his rage, leaving behind the cursed abandoned houses. Creepy!

Today, the Kuldhara has become hot on tourist’s itineraries, and the gates to town are closed post-sundown. Want some adrenaline rush? The visiting hours of this place are from 8 am to 6 pm.
