Smart City Agra: Mission, Map, Projects, and Current Status

In 2015, the Indian government introduced the Smart City Mission to encourage sustainable growth and prosperity in all cities. The list of smart cities continues to grow, and many have been initiated under the framework of the Smart City Mission. In the same year, Agra City was added to the smart city list and has continued to grow in terms of connectivity, convenience, reachability, and other factors. Agra Smart City

Agra is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is located on the Yamuna River in the Indo-Gangetic Plain, approx 200 kilometres southeast of Delhi. Agra is the fourth-largest city in Uttar Pradesh, with a population of approximately 1.6 million people. Agra is known primarily for its 17th-century Taj Mahal, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife, Mumtz Maal.

In addition, Smart City Agra is also notable as a manufacturing and commercial centre for its leather products, cut marble, handmade carpets, and a road and rail junction.Tourism contributes significantly to the city’s economy.
