Ahmedabad will be transformed greatly when the Ahmedabad Metro railway line is fully operational. Experts feel that this landmark infrastructure development will also boost real estate markets across the city which are in close proximity to the metro line. The first trial run is expected to be held in January next year as per the announcement made by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani. The metro will be running to Apparel Park from Vastral Village as part of this trial.
This entire stretch will cover 6.5 kilometres in the eastern part of the city. This is a portion of the East-West Corridor spanning a whopping 20.73 kilometres which will eventually connect Vastral in eastern Ahmedabad with Thaltej in the western part of the city. Development work is already proceeding at a swift pace on the metro line as per reports. There will be integration for the bullet train and metro railway networks as well.
The former will have the first high-speed train in India being launched and this will link Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The mock-up version of the coach will be coming to the city by the end of next month. The Ahmedabad Metro Railway venture is the responsibility of the Metro Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad or MEGA which is a Gujarat Government owned entity. In the first phase, the metro railway link will cover the eastern-western and northern-southern suburbs and zones in Ahmedabad. This will steadily cover Gandhinagar as part of the second phase. The North-South Corridor will be 18.52 kilometres long, linking APMC Market with Motera.
