The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, has decided to eliminate paper from all hospital operations as of January 1, 2023.
In order to enforce this decision, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) team demonstrated the e-Hospital element on October 17 for all the department’s heads, centre Chiefs, and IT/OPD/telemedicine nodal officers of all existing departments, according to an office memo issued by AIIMS, Delhi director Dr M Srinivas. The NIC team produced the respective list of AIIMS Delhi modules currently operational and gave demonstrations of the OT, clinical, and telemedicine modules in accordance with the MoU.
For the deployment of all e-Hospital modules, a working group and a committee for monitoring the same will be formed. The released document stated that all the Nodal IT officers would be duly nominated by their respective departments, sections, and centres for their planned collaboration with computer facilities and National Informatics Centre.

All patients at the new Raj Kumari Amrita Kaur (RAK) OPD must have an Ayushmann Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID created for them during the e-Hospital deployment. Concerned doctors will receive automated emails regarding their appointments the following day.
According to the document, the OPD appointments will be made with specific doctors (senior/faculty residents) in AIIMS Delhi. The system would be set up to redistribute in the event of non-availability, leave, etc., and dashboards for OPD information ought to be available.
Additionally, it stated that for OPD patients, at least 12 barcodes for further tests might be produced for standardised test panels while initiating an admission registration. The same should be attached to the admission form.
To create a system that satisfies the patient’s needs, the director further recommended that the NIC team understand the IT requirements by speaking with resident physicians, nurses, and staff members who are uninterested in medicine, administrative, financial, clinical area, departments, and centres.
