History of APCRDA
In 1978, the VGTM-UDA (Vijayawada Guntur Tenali Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority) was established, but after the split of Andhra Pradesh, CRDA was developed. VGTM–UDA was spread over an area of 1,954 km (754 square miles) and was expanded to 7,063 km (2,727 square miles) in 2012. However, In 2020, the APCRDA was dissolved, and the Amaravati Metropolitan Development Authority was established in its place. Surprisingly, APCRDA was restored again after the AP Assembly passed a legislature called Decentralisation and Inclusion of All Regions Repeal Act 2021 on December 13, 2021.
