Rare Components Scientists discovered fifteen Rare Earth elements in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Researchers from the CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (NGIR) in Hyderabad have discovered that the Andhra Pradesh region’s Anantapur district contains Light Rare Earth Elements (REE).
The NGRI scientist discovered the lanthanide series of minerals while looking for non-traditional rocks, including syenites. They found an array of substances, including allanite, thorite, tantalite, zircon, monazite,and monazite, along with pyrochlore, and fluorite.
When discussing the NGRI Scientists, P.V. Sunder Raju stated they had performed “whole rock analysis” and discovered the REE quantities. The consistency of the elements’ presence underground can be ascertained by diving deeply for at least a kilometre. The production of permanent magnets, which are crucial components of contemporary electronic items like smartphones, laptops, jets, and other things, is the most significant usage of REEs, according to scientists.
The discovery was made as part of a research project for the Council-funded SHORE, which stands for “Shallow Subsurface Imaging of India for Resource Exploration.”
The REE of the lanthanide family is an important component of numerous everyday electronic gadgets, including telephones, televisions, computers, cars, and various industrial uses.
