Minimalistic yet vibrant, vintage yet trendy, Masaba and Neena Gupta’s home is a true reflection of their free-spirited, unconventional personalities.
The mother-daughter duo, Masaba, and Neena Gupta pushed barriers in their professional and personal lives and have come out as proven winners. Neena Gupta is a celebrated actor and an honest human being who has always followed her heart and entertained us with some enthralling roles in the Indian cinema and television. Ace fashion designer Masaba Gupta who has inherited a lot of qualities from her mother is known for creating contemporary fashion designs, which are like a breath of fresh air on Indian runaways. You can watch the perks and perils of their celebrity life on recent Netflix original – Masaba Masaba.
These two creative minds have created an incredible piece of art – the home they live in. Unlike other people who choose a home that’s quiet and peaceful, Masaba and Neena Gupta’s Home is an artsy apartment right within the hustle and bustle of the city.
Let’s take some interior designing inspirations from their artistic abode.
Bright Cushions and Pristine Walls
Neena and Masaba Gupta’s home in Juhu is on the fourth floor and a minute’s walk away from the beach. The plain walls are offset with brightly coloured cushions of different patterns. Their large L-shaped sofa is comfy enough for one to sink in with a book. Neena says she has her designated favourite spot at the centre of the sofa where she sips her morning tea. The highlight of the living room is definitely the balcony that works as an inlet for the sea-breeze that brushes through soft palms and the balcony garden.
Masaba and Neena Gupta’s Love For Antique Home Décor
Neena and Masaba are an admirer of antique home décor. Both can be spotted shopping for some artifacts and artistic old furniture at the nearby Oshiwara market. Neena gives them a new life by adding her personal touch and colouring them in colours of her choice. The entrance of the house is adorned by some signature antique artifacts against the backdrop of a beige motif wallpaper.
Chaukhat on the Wall
Their outstanding collection of artifacts includes an antique chaukhat, which frames a paintbrush. Neena is quite proud of the paintbrush as it was gifted to her by the great artist MF Hussain and is specially signed by himself. The antique chaukhat with intricate carvings painted in muted colours is a gift from Shyam Benegal as Neena describes.
Wall Painting in the Dining Room
Neena and Masaba love spending time in their dining room while sharing a good laugh and a light moment over some delicious food. A stunning painting by Lalita Lajmi, which is also one of the first expensive buys by Neena, stands out in the all-white walls of the dining room.
Quirky Furniture and the Big Green Door at Masaba and Neena Gupta’s Home
Their dressing room is the place that serves the purpose of a green room before any event. Wooden rafters and the exposed brick walls are one of the striking elements of their room. The floor to ceiling windows let ample sunlight peek through the sheer curtains. The whole room has refreshing interiors, which include a quirky wooden fixture where Neena’s glittering multi-coloured bangles can be seen hanging. Masaba has her heart on the beautiful turquoise green antique door of the room that steals away all the attention from the bangles.
Masaba and Neena Gupta’s home is a true reflection of their personalities. Both describe their space in their own ways. Neena feels a sense of contentment looking at the home interiors whether it’s about her career reel on the entrance walls or the red wooden chest she has been carrying since her old home. While Masaba believes a home is less about the things and more about the people living in it. She says their home comes alive in the moments they spend together – gossip sessions, friends’ gatherings, or just while having a meal together on the dining table.
