Current Status

The Bangalore Mysore expressway project was first proposed in 2014 and is set to be completed by June 2022. The project was divided into two phases. One started in May 2019, and the other started in December 2019. 

But due to covid restraints, the project was finished in October 2022.  Currently, it is likely to be opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The time is not defined yet, but the first week of March 2023 is an option. Moreover, the major sections of the 117 km highway running from the NICE entry in Bangalore to Ring road in Mysore were opened in January 2023.

Bangalore Mysore Expressway Toll and Rates

The toll fee is decided based on the number of lanes, bridges and underpasses on the highway. This corridor has forty-four minor bridges. Four rail bridges and nine major bridges. The Bangalore Mysore Expressway toll and rates will vary for different vehicles and automobiles. However, the average toll rates are between Rs. 200 to Rs. 250 only. As per the reports, there will be a toll after every 60 km, and the average fee will be Rs 1.5 or Rs 2 per km.

The NHAI (Indian National Highway Authority) uses a Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) for this Bangalore Mysore Expressway. It has 10 lanes, and the toll tax will be between Rs. 200 and Rs. 250. The Bangalore Mysore expressway is a total of 117 km in length. This project will reduce the distance between Karnataka’s two major cities from 3 hours to 90 minutes only. 

Bangalore Mysore Expressway Vehicle Rules

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has a notification regulation prohibiting two-wheeler riders from entering any Expressway, including the Bangalore Mysore Expressway.

Even automobiles and agricultural vehicles are not permitted on the major highway. All such trucks must use the large service roads built on both sides of the Expressway. This rule came under effect after the highway work was completed in 2022.
