Dr. Bimal Patel is one of the most renowned architects of his generation, showcasing one of the most impressive portfolios. This Padma-Shri recipient aims to navigate solutions on how the fields of urban planning, urban designs, and architecture can converge at a point to enhance the lives of the urban population. Having won the design competition conducted by the Indian government to develop the Central Vista project, Mr. Bimal Patel is set to conclude the central vista project by the end of 2024. Apart from leading the HCP Design Planning and Management Pvt Ltd, which has sketched many architectural marvels in Gujarat, the architect, urbanist, and academician is also the president of the CEPT University, in Ahmedabad.

Dr. Bimal Patel did his schooling at St. Xavier’s School. Where he showcased an early inclination towards physics and social and national development. He is an alumnus of the CEPT University in Ahmedabad, where he earned his Diploma in Architecture, securing the topmost rank in the entrance exam conducted by the university. This ambitious architect moved to the United States to earn his Master’s in Architecture and City Planning and a PhD in city and regional planning from the University of Berkley. As he always wanted to partake in the nation’s development, he set up his base in Ahmedabad, where he worked to redefine the architectural expression of major landmarks like the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad, Gujarat High Court, and the Sabarmati Riverfront Project.
Due to his momentous contribution to the urban landscape clubbed with an emphasis on city planning, this Ahmedabad-Based Architect has won several prestigious accolades such as the World Architecture Award, National Award in Excellence in Urban Planning and Designs by the Prime Minister, and UN Centre for Human Settlements Awards for Excellence.
