Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Advances Developmental Projects
The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation took significant strides towards the development of the city during the monthly Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) meeting on Monday. Led by Mayor Kuldeep Kumar, the committee approved a range of agenda items that are expected to enhance the city’s infrastructure and public amenities.
Enhancing Recreational Infrastructure
One of the key decisions taken during the meeting was the approval of a 10 lakh rupee budget for the construction of a jogging track in Sector 24 park. The new track will provide residents with a dedicated space for outdoor activities, promoting a healthy lifestyle and fostering community engagement.
Improving Waste Management
In a bid to improve the waste management infrastructure, the committee sanctioned the construction of an RCC toe wall at the windrow pad area of the 300 TPD composting plant in Dadumajra. With an estimated cost of 15.4 lakhs, this project will enhance the efficiency and functionality of the composting plant, ensuring effective disposal of organic waste.
Revitalizing Public Spaces
Recognizing the importance of creating inviting and well-maintained public spaces, the committee approved the proposal for landscaping and the construction of a boundary wall in Sector 25. By demolishing abandoned public toilets and repurposing the area, the project aims to transform the space into an attractive and usable location. The estimated cost for this initiative is 17.33 lakhs.
Enhancing Sanitation Facilities
To address the need for improved sanitation facilities, the committee gave the green light to construct public toilet blocks in three green belts at Palm Park. This initiative, along with the construction of four-story houses in Dadumajra, is estimated to cost a total of 49.77 lakhs. These projects will cater to the growing population and ensure access to clean and hygienic sanitation facilities.
Supporting Legal Professionals
In a move to acknowledge the efforts of advocates associated with the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, the committee approved an increase in their empaneled fee. Advocates empaneled in various courts, including district courts, labor courts, permanent lok adalats, and consumer forums, will now receive a higher fee of 10,000 rupees per case, up from the previous 7,000 rupees. This increase recognizes their valuable contributions to the legal fraternity and ensures appropriate compensation for their services.
The F&CC meeting in Chandigarh showcased the commitment of the Municipal Corporation in advancing various developmental projects. From enhancing recreational spaces and waste management infrastructure to boosting sanitation facilities and supporting legal professionals, these initiatives aim to augment the overall quality of life for the residents of Chandigarh. With the proactive measures being undertaken, the city is well on its way to achieving sustainable growth and progress.
