The Chennai Metro is a rapid transit system that serves the Chennai State of Tamil Nadu. It is India’s fourth-longest metro system. After completing the first phase of the project, the metro started operating in 2015. The Chennai Metro current network consists of two colour-coded lines totalling 54 kilometres. The Chennai Metro is built and operated by the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu. The system uses a narrow gauge and has a mix of underground and elevated stations. The Chennai Metro services are available daily between 05:30 and 23:00, with a ranging frequency between 2 to 8 minutes.

The Orange Line, also known as Line 4, is one of three lines in the Chennai Metro Phase 2 Project. A line is currently under construction from Light House to Poonamallee Bypass. The line will have 27 stations, 18 of which will be elevated and 9 of which will be underground.

Considering the Chennai metro system was started to help the masses in their travelling, the fares have been kept low according to the general public. 

In the Chennai metro Orange Line, the lowest fare is Rs 10, and the highest fare is Rs 50. Depending on the distance travelled by the passengers.

Chennai Metro Orange Line Timings

Chennai Metro has significantly contributed towards the reduction of travel time for daily commuters. As you know, the Orange Line is still under construction, but the timing for the Orange Line might remain the same as the other 2 lines.

At present, Chennai Metro operates from 04:30 AM to 11:00 PM. The frequency of one train remains 4-5 minutes during peak hours and 15 minutes during lean hours.
