The Chennai Metro is the third largest after Delhi and Hyderabad Metro. After the finalisation of the first phase of this project, It was opened to more than 7 million people in Chennai in 2015. This 6th most populous city of India needed a high-capacity mass transit system brought by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL). Chennai Metro’s purple lines come under the face of this project. It includes three new lines measuring a total of 173 km, as estimated, and the deadline for this line is December 2026.
Several facilities are provided on Purple Line Metro Chennai. The coaches are air-conditioned with a dedicated compartment for women, a digitised display system, a ticketing system and smart cards, customer care services, lost and found, parking and cycling facilities, and Wi-Fi connectivity at stations. Chennai Metro Purple Line Route
The purple line is estimated at 19.09 km of elevated track and 26.72 km of underground tracks, giving a total of 45.813 km in length. The terminal point of the Chennai Metro purple line route will be at Madhavaram Milk Colony and Siruseri SIPCOT. This line will have 49 stations, 20 elevated and 29 underground. There will be two interchanging stations, i.e. Thirumayilai Metro at Line 4 and Sholinganallur at Line 5.
