Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 Project Nears Completion with the Opening of Janakpuri West-Krishna Park Extension

The much-awaited Janakpuri West-Krishna Park Extension stretch, spanning 2.5 km on the Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg, is expected to be operational by the end of August. This development is a significant milestone in Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 project. According to reports, the commissioner of Delhi Metro Railway recently inspected the Krishna Park station on July 30, 2024, indicating the final stages of preparation for its opening.

Vikas Kumar, the managing director of DMRC, stated in media reports that the inspection of the new section has been completed. The suggestions and recommendations during the inspection will be carefully considered, ensuring that the station is fully equipped and ready to offer a seamless commuting experience to passengers. The authority is optimistic about opening the stretch by the end of August.

An Underground Link in the Magenta Line

The Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg section features an underground connection, housing only one underground station – Krishna Park Extension. It serves as an extension of the Magenta Line that connects Janakpuri West and Botanical Garden. The projected completion date for the entire Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg section is March 2026.

Benefits for Neighboring Localities and Convenient Facilities

An official stated in a TOI report that the operation of the Krishna Park Extension station will greatly benefit the neighboring localities. Commuters residing nearby will no longer have to travel to Janakpuri West station to access the metro network. Equipped with advanced facilities, including platform screen doors for effective crowd management and enhanced commuter safety, the station will also feature an automatic fare collection system compatible with the National Common Mobility Card MCMC, further streamlining the ticketing process.
