In a major development for Delhi’s transportation sector, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs announced that the proposed Rithala-Narela-Kundli metro route has received approval from the central government. The statement, issued by Raj Niwas, affirms that Delhi Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena had been actively engaged in discussions with the Centre regarding this crucial project.
Cost Breakdown and Funding Sources: According to the announcement, the construction of the Rithala-Narela-Kundli metro line is estimated to cost over Rs 62 billion. The Delhi component of the project is expected to amount to Rs 56 billion, while the Haryana portion is projected to cost Rs 5 billion. The national government has pledged to bear over forty percent of the expense for the Delhi component of the project. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will contribute Rs 1,000 crore towards the remaining expenses for the Delhi component. Furthermore, it is revealed that 37.5% of the funding will be sourced from bilateral and multilateral loans. The Delhi government is set to provide approximately 20% of the funds required, with the remaining expenses covered by the Haryana government and grants from the national government.
