Dubai-based logistics giant DP World has taken a bold step towards bolstering its commitment to customers by inaugurating over 100 new freight forwarding offices worldwide. With disruptions to global trade on the rise, including those stemming from climate change, geopolitics, and macroeconomic challenges, DP World recognizes the need to provide reliable and resilient solutions for businesses navigating the complexities of the supply chain. The newly established offices, which already employ 1,000 staff, will further strengthen DP World’s commitment to moving over 10% of global trade annually. This expansion is expected to fuel the rapid growth of their already formidable 108,000-strong team over the next year. Specifically, DP World has a strong freight forwarding presence in India, with offices in 16 locations, including key cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Chennai.
Moving Towards Resilient Supply Chains
According to Economist Impact research, businesses are now prioritizing dynamic strategies that build resilience into their supply chains. The traditional asset-light freight forwarding model, which relies on moving cargo through third parties, has proven to be increasingly susceptible to disruption at various chokepoints. DP World’s new initiative aims to address this constraint by offering integrated control and resilience through its extensive suite of services, encompassing ports, terminals, warehouses, trucks, rail, and shipping. By focusing on air and ocean freight, DP World aims to meet businesses’ demand for increased control over their supply chains. With exclusive access to proprietary digital technology and partnerships across the supply chain, DP World is poised to enhance efficiency for its customers.
An End-to-End Network to Enable Global Trade
DP World’s growing service portfolio boasts an end-to-end network, comprising more than 430 business units across 86 countries. This network offers a comprehensive range of logistics services, including order and origin management, port handling, and freight management for both ocean and air cargo. In addition, DP World provides services such as customs clearance, drayage, last-mile delivery, and bonded warehousing. These value-added offerings are further supported by specialty services like embedded trade finance, commodity-specific solutions, and advanced hubs. To simplify and streamline the logistics process, DP World offers customers a single digital window through which they can track their shipments in real-time and easily manage their cargo journey. Notably, the company’s integrated Global Services Centre, comprised of over 500 IT specialists, centralizes back-end processes to facilitate efficient operations.
DP World’s Commitment to Streamlining Global Trade
DP World’s Vice President for Freight Forwarding in India Subcontinent and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Akash Agrawal, emphasized the company’s dedication to delivering seamless logistics solutions for its customers. With the expansion of the freight forwarding network, combined with existing air and ocean freight, trucking services, customs clearance, and warehouse facilities, DP World aims to simplify global trade for businesses across the globe. With the latest expansion, DP World not only increases the size of its logistics team to over 45,000 employees, but also boosts its overall global workforce to nearly 110,000 people. These employees are spread across a diversified portfolio of logistics services, including ports and terminals, marine services, and logistics as DP World approaches the future with a renewed commitment to supporting and facilitating global trade.
