Inside the Sheer Opulence of Drake’s Manor in Toronto

Drake’s new house, The Embassy, clocks in at an impressive 50,000 square feet. Designed by Canadian architectural and interior designer Ferris Rafauli. Drake’s astonishing abode certainly qualifies as extravagant. It is one of Toronto’s Most Famous Mansions for its sumptuous use of luxury materials and maximalist aesthetic, which has been grabbing attention all over the world. Every detail of this sprawling mansion has been meticulously conceived and executed. The home of the Hotline Bing’s singer boasts not only an NBA-sized basketball court with a pyramidal skylight but a spectacular 20,000 pieces of hand-cut Swarovski crystal chandelier. 

The 33-year-old Canadian rapper purchased this property in 2015 for about $6.7 million and is custom-built from the ground up. The place is best described as a contemporary twist on Beaux-Arts architecture meets a modern Art Deco. Rafauli envisioned Drake’s dream of designing a timeless monumental structure, leaving a beautiful legacy behind. 

Drake’s Home Interiors – Luxury at its Best

Drake’s mansion gives a Modern Art Deco vibe, assembled with a majestic medley of bespoke materials namely, limestone, exotic woods, bronze and marble. 

Inside, the epic room climbs up to 44-feet high and antique mirrors framed in bronze make up the vast ceilings and walls. Crowning the massive room is a Bösendorfer concert grand piano designed by Rafauli and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. Drake’s world completely revolves around music, so he wasn’t going to buy just any piano. This prized possession is an authentic marriage of artistry, craft, and quality,” Rafauli stated.  

In tune with the maximalist décor, huge chandeliers adorn the ceilings not only in the living areas but the suspended cantilevered block marble stairs are peppered with striking chandeliers that create a dazzling effect.

Monumental Precious Collections

The opulent canary-yellow lounge has a foliate ceiling of concentric backlit hexagonal panels. Interestingly, it has already been featured in a few of Drake’s videos. The room’s glory is Lobmeyr’s iconic Metropolitan chandelier- a one-of-a-kind light sculpture showcasing 20,000 pieces of hand-cut Swarovski crystal. The dazzling sunburst chandelier was originally designed by Hans Harald Rath for the Viennese maker to decorate the Metropolitan Opera in New York City in 1963. The lavish furnishings are all custom designed by Rafauli in materials that range from dyed ostrich skin and mohair to Macassar and bronze. 

The  Extravagant Master Suite

Drake’s favourite spot in the house is his 3,200 sq. ft. master suite which is bigger than most people’s homes in India; with an additional 1,100 square feet of covered terraces. “The bedroom is where I come to decompress from the world at the end of the night and where I open my eyes to seize the day,” the rapper says. The magnificent bedroom is furnished with a bed and baseboard which weigh roughly one ton and cost more than the latest S-Class Mercedes. The headboard, accented with an antique mirror and channel-tufted leather, doubles as a whiskey and champagne bar on the reverse side. Additionally, the bath features a 4,000-pound tub carved from a single block of faceted black marble, and the two-story closet is adorned with amethyst hardware. The room is enveloped with the details like the nightstands featuring mother-of-pearl inlays, and the bedding from The Rug Company. 

Striking Features in Drake’s house  

Other highlights include a full-size NBA basketball court capped with a 21-square foot pyramidal skylight and it’s branded with Drake’s brand logo, OVO. A swanky recording studio lounge styled like a nightclub tells the story of Drake from his years on Degrassi: The Next Generation to his current days as a Grammy-winning artist. Also, a hall of sports jerseys is displayed like a museum exhibit, and an indoor swimming pool composed of black granite makes up the Drake’s house in Toronto.  

Other Properties owned by Drake

Other than this sprawling mansion in Toronto, Drake owns a multi-residence compound in the celeb-packed Hidden Hills section of Los Angeles. The place is massive that includes a grotto, tennis and basketball courts, stables, a mechanical bull and a stand-alone movie theatre that seats roughly twenty-five people at a time. The rapper is a party animal and known for his lavish parties, he promised the neighbours if his lifestyle disrupts their privacy, he will buy their houses, and he did stand by that. Drake brought two more houses into the neighbourhood, making it all together with a 6.7acre estate in Hidden Hills as his YOLO Estate. Forbes has estimated that Drake’s net worth is US$ 180 million.

No doubt the house is magnificent in its glory it’s a state of his personality and expression to entertain and mesmerize. Drake’s home features striking interiors, lavish amenities, and the nods to different design eras that make for a masterpiece estate. It’s an overwhelming high luxury that can be seen through the size of the rooms and the materials and meticulous details of the floors and the ceilings.
