Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to hand over e-property cards to 1.7 lakh beneficiaries under the SVAMITVA scheme which is the principal scheme of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
As per the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), PM Modi will have a virtual discussion via video conferencing with beneficiaries of the SVAMITVA on 6 October. This discussion will take place after virtually delivering cards of e-property to 1,71,000 lakh beneficiaries. The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh will also grace the event by being present at the time of the virtual distribution of e-property cards.
SVAMITVA scheme predominantly offers property rights to citizens in rural areas. It was launched by the Prime Minister on the occasion of the National Panchayati Raj Day on April 24, 2020.
SVAMITVA scheme facilitates rural citizens to use the land as a financial asset for acquiring loans and attaining a spectrum of financial benefits.
As per the government’s understanding, this scheme intends to demarcate and colonize lands in rural areas via state-of-the-art surveying drone technology. In a way, it paves the way for progression in the ecosystem of drone production.
According to the Panchayati Raj Ministry, the pilot survey will take place in a phase-wise manner from the year 2020 to 2024. The cost of the pilot survey is estimated to be ₹79.65 crores.
Salient Objectives of the SVAMITVA Scheme:
The objective of the SVAMITVA scheme is to create authentic land records specifically for rural planning and to alleviate property-related disputes. It induces financial stability and transparency so that the rural citizens can use the land as an asset for acquiring loans and other assortments of benefits. With the presence of GIS maps, the officials got big-time help in the preparation of the first-class Gram Panchayat Development Plan. In a nutshell, the government is hoping to mitigate legal disputes related to property through this revolutionary scheme.
