What is an EPF Grievance?

EPF grievance is a management system that looks after the complaints lodged by the employees of any organization from the private or public sector regarding their provident fund. And this system was started by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO).

  • Payment of PF Amount Online: Organizations can pay PF amount online, with EPFO having tie-ups with 10 banks for collecting dues.
  • Missed Call and SMS Services: Members with a UAN can send an SMS to 7738299899 or give a missed call to 011-22901406 to check the claim status, KYC status, or PF balance.
  • EPF Grievance Redressal: EPFO prioritises EPF grievances and aims to resolve them quickly. Most complaints are resolved within 15 days, with 97% resolved within this timeframe and 80% resolved within 7 days.

What is the Process to Register a complaint in the EPFO Grievance Portal?

To make the process easy and understandable we have divided the process into the following steps. You can follow the steps and successfully register directly into the EPF grievance portal.

  1. Open the official website of EPF i-Grievance. The link to the website is – https://epfigms.gov.in/
  2. You will see an option to register a grievance and you have to click on it.
  3. Now, it’s time to select the status. There are around five options from which you have to select one: PF member, Employer, EPS Pensioner, or Others.

Note: You can also use other options, in case you don’t have your employer’s UAN/PPO number.

  1. Finally, you have to enter your UAN number (it is allocated only once to every individual). Now enter the security code and then press the option of ‘Get Details’
  2. All the details will be displayed on the following screen where you have to click on ‘Get OTP’.
  3. An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile phone number. You have to enter that security code and then press the verify button.
  4. Once your security code is verified you have to select your PF account number from your personal details.
  5. From the grievance section you have to select the issue faced by you and to which it is related.
  6. You can also describe your problem within 5000 characters in the text box.
  7. Now, upload all the required documents related to your grievance problem.
  8. Press the submit button.
  9. Your complaint is successfully registered and the complaint number will be sent to your registered mobile number.

How to Check the Status of Complaint for UAN Grievance?

Checking the status of a complaint in the EPFIGMS portal is quite easy. To understand the entire process follow all the steps mentioned below.

  1. Visit the official website of EPF Grievance -https://epfigms.gov.in/
  2. Press the “option” of ‘View Status
  3. It will ask you to enter the registration number, the grievance password assigned to you or your mobile number, or your Gmail address (valid).
  4. Finally, you have to enter your authorization code.
  5. Press on the submits option to check the status of your grievance complaint.
  6. On the screen, you will notice the details of the EPFO regional office that is handling your complaint currently. You will also see the name of the executive working on your complaint to resolve it. At the end of the page, you can see the current status of your grievance.

How To Send a Reminder About Your Complaint?

One can use the EPF grievance portal for sending reminders to the EPFO handling your grievance if your issue has not been resolved or there is no change in the status. But it is only possible after the period of 30 working days has been completed since the day your complaint is registered there.

  • If you are an employee and want to register a complaint against the company, you are working in.

  • When there is a problem in withdrawing your PF funds.
  • When there is an issue with Form 13 for transferring PF funds.
