An individual has to fill the EPF Form 19 for the final settlement of his/her account. Anyone can download the form from the official website – www.epfindia.org.in.

In PF Form 19, an individual just has to fill in all the required details and submit the form to its previous employer. Though in many cases the salaried person does not remember the details or account number of the EPF account. And, in such cases, you can make an official request to the HR department of your office.

Let’s start with a basic understanding of what is Form 19?

What is Form 19 in PF

EPF stands for Employees’ Provident Fund. It is a retirement scheme launched by the government of India. In this scheme, every employee working in the public or the private sector offers a percentage of their salary every month. And the employer has to make the same offering to the individuals’ EPF account.

An employee can withdraw its funds at the time of retirement when their health is declining or not good to continue working for hours or when they leave the job due to personal reasons. Therefore, to withdraw the EPF amount, an employee will fill up the EPF withdrawal form 19 in specified cases.

EPF Form 19 is Used for The Following Purposes:

  • Final PF Settlement.
  • Benefits of Pension withdrawal
  • Non-Refundable PF

Though an individual can select the first two options at the end of their retirement of service. The third option can be used during their service period under certain circumstances, emergencies, or other important conditions as per the criteria.

What is the Content Inside the PF Form 19?

There are two pages in Form 19. And it contains the following sections:

  • Name of the individual.
  • Father’s name or Husband’s name (if married women)
  • Date of birth of the individual.
  • Name and address of the company or organization (individual presently working at)
  • The individual has to enter his/her a) P.F. Account No. b) Universal Account Number (UAN)
  • Date of joining the company
  • Date of leaving the service
  • A valid reason for leaving the organization –
  1. The service is terminated on account of – a) ill-health (b) Contraction /Discontinuation of employer’s business or (c) Other Causes
  2. Due to personal reasons
  • Enter Permanent Account Number (PAN) while submitting Form no. 15 G/15 H, if relevant (YES/NO). Now embed two copies of both forms (15G/15H), if relevant.
  • Complete Postal Address
  • Select the mode of payment:

(Tick the most suitable option)

  1. By postal money order (at your own risk)
  2. By account Payee Cheque or e-mode of payment

(Please attach a copy of the canceled Cheque or Attested copy of the first page of your Passbook)

The second page needs to be filled only if the cheque method is selected on the first page.

When Can You Use PF Form 19?

When individual wishes to withdraw the EPF funds as the last settlement, he or she will fill out Form 19. Thus, this form is also known as PF withdrawal form 19.

Form 19 can also be used to withdraw pension benefits and get a PF as a non-refundable advance.

The first two options are used at the time of retirement, but the last option is accessible only while the service is served to the organization.

Also, PF form 19 can only be filled after two months of leaving the job.

Latest Information: As of 2021, the latest outcome from Union Budget is

If the PF contribution of an employee is deducted but not deposited by the employer, then there will be no deduction allowed for the employer.

How to Fill PF Form 19 Online?

  1. You have to visit the official EPF portal.
  2. Now, enter the UAN ID and password.
  3. Enter the captcha code to sign in.
  4. Select the Claim Form – 19, 31, 10D & 10C from the online services section.
  5. On forms 31, 19, 10C & 10D pages, you will see all your personal details (such as – your name, father or husband name, DOB, KYC details).
  6. You have to verify the bank account details by entering the last 4 digits of your account number. Now, click on the button so that the software running at the back can identify and validate your details to confirm that you are the owner of that account.
  7. After the successful verification, you have to enter the details related to your work. Such as the date of ending EPF and EPS accounts. And, then further, specify a valid reason for leaving.
  8. You have to click on ‘Yes’ for signing the certificate.
  9. In the first field, you have to choose the ‘Only PF Withdrawal (Form 19)’ from the menu available there.
  10. You have to enter the complete postal address, select disclaimer, and then press on the option to get the Aadhaar OTP.
  11. OTP is sent on the current active and registered number. You have to enter the OTP in the appropriate field.
  12. You can now submit the application after verifying it once.
  13. A reference number will be generated.
  14. You can see the number displayed on the screen once the submission of your application is successful.
  15. The PF amount (how much you want) will be transferred into your bank account (make sure that it is linked with the UAN).

What Are The Prerequisites for Filing Form 19?

Before filing any document or form there are some requirements beforehand that you have to fulfill. Here are the following requirements for Form 19:

  • First, activate your UAN on the EPF member portal.
  • The second step is to link your UAN with your bank account and Permanent Account Number.
  • Now, link your active and valid phone number with UAN.
  • Check if you are eligible for a final settlement or not. If you are not, then the form will not be displayed.
  • Also, you can only fill the form if you have left your job two months ago or retired before applying.
  • An active mobile number is mandatory to provide for final settlement.
  • And, at the end for the final claiming PAN is mandatory.

How to Withdraw PF Funds Offline – Composite Claim Form

The composite claim form is a combination of – Form 19, Form 31, Form 10D, and Form 10C. For the final settlement, an individual has to fill Form 19, Form 31 for partial EPF, Form 10D for monthly pension withdrawal, and Form 10C for pension withdrawal.

Form 10D

This form is used for claiming the monthly pension. It is submitted alongside Form 19/20. It is applicable only if the employee’s age is more than 50 and less than 58. The requirements of this form are as follows:

  • Name
  • Permanent Address
  • Marital Status
  • Name and Address of last organization
  • Date of leaving last organization
  • Reason for leaving
  • The advance report, etc.

Form 19 UAN

Form 19 UAN is applicable when an employee resigns due to illness, physical disabilities, or relocation outside India permanently, or on retirement. The employee has to share all the details such as UAN, PAN, date of joining, and leaving. And, if the tenure is less than 5 years then the employee also has to submit Form 15 G or Form 15H. However, these forms are only acceptable if the annual income of the employee is less than 2.5 lakhs. An employee also has to submit a cancel cheque, all documents required, and submitted to the EPFO office.

Form 10C UAN

Form 10C UAN is submitted along with PF Form 19 when an employee is also claiming the amount under EPS. This form is only applicable if an employee leaves the job after completing 10 years at an organization. It is also used when an employee resigns before completing the tenure of 10 years. They just have to share all the details like PAN, UAN, date of joining and leaving and then submit it at the EPFO office.

Form 31 UAN

This form is used when an employee wants to withdraw its EPF in advance or before retirement from the service. To fill this form, the employee has to share the details of his/her PAN, UAN, date of joining and leaving, and then submit it to the EPFO office.

What is The Process To Withdraw Money From EPF Online?

  • You have to visit the online UAN member sewa portal.
  • Now, enter your Universal Account Number, password, and enter the Captcha to log in.
  • Hit the sign-in option.
  • Under the online service section click on Claim (FORM-19,31,10C&10D) option.
  • Verify all the details appearing on the online claim form.
  • After verifying, enter your bank account number details in the form.
  • Click the yes button.
  • Now, proceed and claim by clicking on the Proceed for Online claim.
  • You have to enter the reason, either you are applying for final settlement or withdrawal of advanced PF.
  • You can select any of the options from the drop-down menu.
  • Now, finally, insert the amount in the box and then your email address in the available section.
  • Press on the certificate option and then submit your request.
  • After the submission, you may have to submit the scanned documents for the purpose (you selected earlier in the claim form).
  • Your employer will have to approve the request for withdrawal.
  • After 15-20 days the total amount will be transferred into your bank account.

Benefits And Limitations of PF Form 19

Benefits:

  • There is no requirement of an employer’s attestation.
  • PF can be processed within or up to 5 days after an online application (make sure Aadhaar is linked with UAN).
  • The portal allows members to withdraw their funds easily.
  • The one-page composite claim form will help with the next phase of e-governance, public services honest, and efficient for all.

Limitations:

  • Even if employer attestation is not required to withdraw PF funds, during the final settlement only the employer will update the exit date of the member.
  • If the job leaving date is not updated on time then the employee has to fill Form 31 to access the funds.
  • And, if an employee doesn’t want any intervention from the employer then they have to wait for two months after leaving the job to access their funds.
