Amidst rising pollution & traffic, urban dwellers these days prefer a calm & serene atmosphere that can give them an escape from their day to day hectic life. To cater to such demands, modern real estate projects ar
e heavily emphasizing on the GREEN Quotients. Not surprisingly, developers splurge well on landscaping and greenery. In fact nowadays they are even stepping up their efforts for more green environs- With the concept of Trees.
The concept of planting unique and different trees in modern projects are catching up very fast. Often such trees are imported from other countries. From the lush forests of Africa to the historic greens of Europe, hunt is on for rare and vintage tree types. Some of them are even more than 300 years old. With scientific measures, these are transplanted to here in India.
Tree Oriented Indian Projects
In many new projects in different parts of the country these trees are a big hit.
In Whitefield area of Bangalore, local developer Total Environment has created a project themed around an imported tree of Baobab variety. This three-hundred-year old tree was especially imported from Madagascar.
In Mumbai, the project Mayfair Villas in Tellapur has an olive tree that has drawn a lot of attraction. The reason? Well the tree is more than twelve hundred years old! The developer has got a lot of publicity for this reason, as people just drove in out of curiosity for the famed tree.
Similarly, the Adani group also used exotic trees to enhance the value of their premium offering villa project Shantigram at Ahmedabad.
Developers generally favor full grown trees instead of planting saplings that usually take long to grow. The buyers in such cases are able to see instantly- the trees and the greenery- just not the small plants and saplings.
Technology Changing the Norms
However, the use of trees is a recent phenomenon. If we go back a bit before, developers were not all too cozy with the idea of trees. It was supposed to be cumbersome job since landscaping often caused issues like seepage and roots of trees would use lot of space. But technology has made it all very easy. Now they can just plant trees in a limited space and create a special look for their project. So much so that they are more than willing to shell out extra bucks for importing trees from countries like Australia, Vietnam, Spain, Italy etc.
(A rare tree can cost more than fifteen lakh rupees. These trees come in varied heights and can reach up to forty feet in height. )
