Before FIFA World Cup, 2022 Qatar Lifts Mandatory Quarantine Requirement

The latest updates have resulted in a collective sigh of relief among tourists and football fans who have their bags packed for Qatar. As the country braces itself for FIFA World Cup 2022, the new Qatar quarantine guidelines that have lifted the mandatory quarantine restrictions for visitors and travel restrictions set in the wake of coronavirus have also been moderated. 

From September 4, travellers from across the globe need not spend their first day in the country packed in their hotel rooms. As Qatar lifts quarantine rules, visitors must be required to quarantine before stepping out to soak in the architectural magnificence the country has to offer. 

Before this update, the country followed a strict ‘Red List Classification’ method where visitors from countries featured in ‘Red List’ were required to quarantine in their hotel rooms. However, per the new Qatar Quarantine Guideline issued by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), the mandatory isolation period is exclusive to visitors who have tested positive for the virus.

The country has currently established pre-arrival and post-arrival testing measures for visitors. According to the state media, the residents and visitors must undergo a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) within a day of their arrival, which is to take place in a centre approved by the MoPH or a Primary Healthcare Corporation. The visitors are also required to produce a negative result on the PCR test from their home country, which shall be conducted 48 hours before travel to Qatar. They can also produce a RAT negative test which must be facilitated within 24 hours before travel. 

The new Qatar Quarantine Guidelines have left the world rejoiced as it commemorates the commencement of a post-covid era free from all the restrictions and boundations. As Qatar lifts quarantine rules and travel restrictions from September 4, it would be easier for the authorities to facilitate football fans worldwide so that the prestigious tournament concludes without hiccups. The tournament is highly anticipated in Qatar, as it hopes to stimulate the country’s tourism industry. The new Qatar Quarantine guidelines are also closely monitored by the tourists ready to revert to the country’s magnificent sights. As Qatar removes the quarantine mandate, people worldwide would gladly redo their itinerary as it gives them another day to celebrate football in the serene ambience of Qatar.
