Future transport projects to improve airport connectivity

New Infrastructure Projects in the Pipeline for Improved Connectivity

Several significant infrastructure projects are set to transform connectivity between the airport and nearby cities. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) has announced key initiatives, including a 16km long dedicated freight corridor between the airport and Chola railway station in Bulandshahr. This development is expected to have a positive impact on passenger and cargo transportation.

Development of Industrial Sectors and Warehousing Hubs

As part of these infrastructure endeavors, Yeida plans to acquire land in Gautam Budh Nagar and Bulandshahr districts to establish 13 new industrial sectors, primarily focusing on warehousing and logistics. The authority is already preparing a land acquisition proposal to expedite this development. The incorporation of 55 remote villages into the Master Plan 2041 is another move to expand Yeida’s jurisdiction.

Parallel Freight Corridor and Commuter Road

The proposed freight corridor and commuter road, both clocking in at 100 meters wide, will feature four to six lanes that will run parallel to the railway line connecting the airport with Chola station. This move is expected to facilitate smoother transportation flow. According to Yeida officials, the approval of Master Plan 2041 has also greatly accelerated the land acquisition process.

Enhanced Railway Connectivity Plans

In addition, Yeida has devised a comprehensive plan to connect the airport to the existing railway route from Rundhi in Palwal to Chola station on the Delhi-Howrah line. If implemented, this new link will connect the Howrah-New Delhi main line near Chola station to the Chennai/Mumbai-Delhi main line near Rundhi station, allowing trains to travel in both directions from Jewar airport.

Bright Prospects for New Industrial Sectors

The integration of 55 villages into Master Plan 2041 will not only bolster Yeida’s jurisdiction but also facilitate the development of new industrial sectors. These sectors will be connected through a well-established network of road and rail infrastructure. The extent of these developments also fuels positive aspirations for the proposed international film city, along with other nearby cities that will gain enhanced connectivity.

Transforming Chola into a Model Hub

Yeida has confirmed its plans to upgrade Chola railway station into a model hub. This remarkable initiative will be funded by Yeida itself, and a proposal has already been submitted to the Railways Ministry. A model hub at Chola station will further elevate connectivity to the nearby Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region (DNGIR), also known as New Noida.

In summary, the infrastructure developments spearheaded by Yeida will lead to improved connectivity between the airport and cities in the vicinity. With the ambitious freight corridor, facilitation of commuter road, and plans for enhanced railway connectivity, the region is expected to witness substantial growth in passenger and cargo transportation. The expansion of industrial sectors and the inclusion of villages in the Master Plan 2041 will boost economic development and contribute to the overall progress of the region. The upgrade of Chola railway station into a model hub will serve as the cornerstone for improved connectivity, benefiting not only the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region but also other neighboring cities and the proposed international film city.
