Goa Police Launches Tenant Verification Drive in North Goa
In an effort to enhance public safety and security, the Goa police have initiated a tenant verification drive in North Goa. The drive focuses on verifying the credentials of approximately 40,000 tenants and house helpers in the district. Led by Superintendent of Police SP North Goa, Akshat Kaushal, this initiative aims to ensure 100% police verification of individuals residing in rented properties.
Extensive Verification Process
The verification camps, which have been set up in major market areas, serve as the platform for conducting the verification process. The goal is to meticulously examine the backgrounds of tenants, laborers, and house help to ensure that the premises are not used for illegal activities. The Goa police also check if landlords have followed the proper procedure of conducting police verification.
To date, as of September 28, 2024, a total of 27,700 tenants and 11,068 house helpers have been successfully verified through this process. This rigorous verification drive highlights the commitment of the Goa police to create a safe and secure living environment for residents in North Goa.
Public-Police Cooperation and Crime-Free Environment
Superintendent Akshat Kaushal emphasized the importance of close coordination between law enforcement agencies and market welfare associations. This collaboration aims to enhance public-police cooperation in high-traffic areas and promote a sense of security among the residents.
In addition to the tenant verification drive, the Goa police have also launched an operation called ‘Operation Raakhan’. This operation seeks to monitor suspicious individuals and vehicles during late hours, further reinforcing their commitment to ensuring public safety. Night patrolling will now take place from 11 PM to 5 AM to address the rising incidents of housebreaking and other illegal activities that tend to occur during these hours.
The proactive approach by the Mapusa police, who conducted night patrols, played a crucial role in solving a recent jewellery shop theft case, leading to the successful arrest of the suspects. Such instances reinforce the effectiveness and importance of increased law enforcement measures during nighttime hours.
Fostering a Safe and Secure Community
Through the tenant verification drive and the implementation of Operation Raakhan, the Goa police are taking proactive measures to create a crime-free environment and foster a sense of safety among the residents of North Goa. By meticulously verifying tenants and house helpers and closely monitoring activities during late hours, law enforcement aims to weed out antisocial elements and ensure the well-being of the community.
It is commendable to see law enforcement agencies taking the initiative to enhance public safety and security. The Goa police’s commitment to conducting thorough investigations and engaging with the community will undoubtedly contribute to a safer and more secure North Goa.
