GMDA (Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority) will be taking over the infrastructural duties for the city almost 18 months post being formed. It will be handling and taking care of all HUDA/Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran assets in Gurgaon and the hand-over was executed courtesy the department of town and country planning. This indicates a major infrastructural boost for Gurgaon since development will now speed up and this will naturally boost real estate markets in the city as well according to experts. These assets to be handled by GMDA are inclusive of the water supply lines, parks, roads, sewage systems and hospital sites among others. GMDA was already taking care of sewage and water services for the last 18 months although project delays were caused due to the land ownership continuing to be under the HSVP. This new decision will speed up infrastructural development and maintenance in Gurgaon as per experts. Land ownership will help in reducing overall time taken for the approval procedure. Infrastructure management will also be done more effectively in this regard. Asset transfer was requested from the HSVP by the GMDA for quite some time now due to problems relating to encroachment. The actual handover may still take a little more time since GMDA has to build its engineering team and make other suitable arrangements likewise. GMDA will hold responsibility for master sewage systems and roads and MCG will manage internal lines. Gurgaon is seeing a rebound in its real estate market due to renewed buyer confidence. Some of the top projects in the city include Hero Homes Gurgaon, Godrej Nature Plus and Breez Global Hill View to name a few.
