Gurgaon is on a continuous road of growth in every field. From real estate to transportation fixtures. The much-awaited metro extension after an interlude, Gurgaon, is blessed with a 28.8 km metro connectivity route from Huda City Centre to Cyber City.
According to the Government authorities, the 28.8-kilometre metro connectivity route between Gurgaon’s HUDA City Center and Cyber City has received approval from the Public Investment Board. Between Huda City Center and Cyber City, the line is projected to include 27 stations, including a connection to the Dwarka Expressway.

Metro Expansion Plan in Gurgaon
The Public Investment Board, or PIB, was established to review the investment plans submitted by the various Indian government ministries on behalf of the relevant public sector enterprises. The metro rail projects are authorised after implementing the necessary protocols, which include inter-ministerial consultation and clearance by the Public Investment Board and the Government of India. Thus, the Gurgaon metro extension project had to be submitted to the PIB for clearance and approval.
In addition, the efforts of the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) to get the project approved by the board were commended. The HMRTC will be undertaking the project, and the metro corridor construction will begin in March 2023 as per the project plan schedule.
The 27-station Gurgaon metro corridor would cost 6,000 crores to build and has a 2026 completion date. It will connect the old and new Gurgaon and address a significant gap in the connectivity circuit. Part of the goal to complete the Gurgaon metro corridor in 2026 is tendering and on-the-ground execution. The state government will run the metro, making it unique to Gurgaon.
Much-Awaited Metro Extension in Gurgaon
It has taken years of back-and-forth discussions to plan, build, and execute metro extensions throughout the city. This has been a standing problem for the city, which has been outpaced by Noida, where the Aqua Line was commissioned in 2019. Caught in dithering, revising, and redrawing routes, this has been a major point of contention for the city.
The corridor will connect to a projected route from Palam Vihar to Dwarka Sector 21 and the Rapid Metro, which travels between Cyber City and Sector 56. Once the two metro connectivity routes are completed, reaching IGI Airport will be easy via the Airport Express metro line at Dwarka.
Currently, the Gurgaon Metro Line is 17km, with a 5.3 km Yellow line on the Delhi Metro route and 11.7 km of Rapid Metro. There has been no expansion since the Rapid Metro on Golf Course Road in 2017.

New Transportation Projects in the Loop
The projected metro connectivity route will link with the Dwarka Expressway with a 2.2 km long extension near the village of Basai. To boost access to Delhi’s IGI Airport, the higher authorities approve a metro rail line from Rezang La Chowk in Gurgaon up to Sector-21 in Dwarka.
The proposed metro connectivity route line will traverse through the entire city of Gurgaon.
The metro corridor will benefit students, women, the working class, and individuals who commute to work by providing a convenient and sustainable transportation system to Gurgaon residents and those living nearby.
