IGRSUP stands for Inspector General of Registration and Stamps, Uttar Pradesh. It is responsible for levying the tax on the transactions of property and other similar activities. It is also responsible for generating the revenue that will be a contributing factor in the growth of the state.
The IGRSUP has a portal with all the information about the Stamp and Registration Department of the Uttar Pradesh Government. It provides all the information on property registration and property ownership details for the properties in Uttar Pradesh.
Various Types of Stamps Under IGRSUP
Under IGRSUP, there are three types of stamps that are responsible for indicating the payment of duty. These three stamps are:
- Impressed Stamps – These are the stamped papers that bear the word ‘India non-judicial’ printed on them.

Step 1: Visit the official website, igrsup.gov.in
Step 2: Then, make sure you log in to IGRSUP with your igrsup login credentials.
Step 3: On the left hand side of the screen, click on the option ‘Property Search’.

- Address of the property (details of the deeds which are registered before 7 December 2017).

Steps to Get Details of Property on IGRS Uttar Pradesh
Step 1: Visit the official website, igrsup.gov.in. Then login to the portal using the IGRSUP login credentials given to you.
Step 2: Then, click on the tab of ‘Property Details’, named as ‘सम्पत्ति विवरण’.
Step 3: You will be redirected to a new window. Then, click on the option whether you are looking for urban property details or rural property details.
Step 4: Then, enter the district and ID of the property to see the deed of the property, due taxes of the property, utility details of the property, and civil cases.
Registration of Property under IGRSUP
Registering your property is ensuring that the property is rightfully yours. A small amount of fees is also paid during the registration of property. IGRSUP portal gives you the ease of registering properties through the online mode. All you need to do is follow some simple steps. Below are the steps to register your property under IGRS Uttar Pradesh:
Step 1: Visit the official portal, igrsup.gov.in.
Step 2: On the left side of the screen you will find ‘सम्पत्ति पंजीकरण’ or ‘Property Registration’, click on an option under property registration named as ‘आवेदन करें’ option.
Step 3: If you are a new applicant, click on ‘New Applicant’.
Step 4: Now proceed to choose the details of your property like the district, sub-registrar, tehsil, and then add your mobile number, password along with captcha code.
Step 5: After entering all the details, click on the sign in option. These details will be your IGRSUP login credentials. If you have registered on the IGRSUP portal before, you do not need to go through the steps mentioned above. You can just simply process by clicking on the option ‘User Log In’.
Step 6: Choose the document you want to register from the given list.
Step 7: Add the name of the deed presenter and their contact details.
Step 8: In this window, you will need to provide some of the details, such as all the details about the property. For example, the tehsil, district, type of area, type of property, and sub-area of the property.
Step 9: Then, proceed and add the details of the valuation of the property. This will also ask you to enter the type of building and the details about the property.
Step 10: If there is any additional sub-clause, then mention it too.
Step 11: Now, upload all the necessary documents asked by the portal and proceed. Keep the mentioned documents, such as certificate of residence, Government issued identification cards, photographs, ground papers, etc, ready.
Step 12: If there are any other parties who are involved in the transaction, add their information too. Also, add the information of the two witnesses too.
Step 13: The, comes selecting the document for the deed. After selecting, click on the ‘Save’ option and proceed.
Step 14: Pay the amount asked by the portal as the registration service fee. Select the payment option from the given list that you want to pay the fees with.
Step 15: For future reference, you can take out a print out. After all the process, you need to visit the office of the sub-registrar on any of the working days for the verification process.
IGRSUP Stamp Duty
The property buyers in Uttar Pradesh will have to pay a certain amount of the value of their property to the stamp duty during the time of registering the property under the stamp and registration department UP. Along with the stamp duty, the buyers are also required to pay a registration fee too.
Steps to Apply for Withdrawal of Stamp Duty
IGRSUP gives the facility through which you can ask for the withdrawal of your stamp duty easily. Once you visit the official website of the IGRS UP, you will find the option ‘स्टाम्प वापसी हेतु आवेदन’ or ‘Application for stamp withdrawal’ on the left-hand side of the screen. Click on the option to create a fresh application or log in to the portal using your IGRSUP login credentials to modify or view your previous application.
Note: Once you create a new application, you will need to log in on the portal using your IGRSUP login credentials and start the further process.
Availing the Registered Document Services with IGRSUP
Step 1: Visit the official website, igrsup.gov.in.
Step 2: If you are using the website in Hindi, then, on the left hand side of the screen, you will find the option ‘पंजीकृत लेखपत्र का प्रमाणपत्र’. And if the website is in English, click on the option ‘Application of Registered Document Certificate’. You will now be redirected to a new window.
Step 3: Now, enter the details asked by the portal, which include the district, property type, SRO, registration number, registration year, number of the applicant, registration deska, and captcha to proceed further.
Steps to Apply for Encumbrance Certificate through IGRSUP
After visiting the official website of IGRSUP, you will find the option of ‘Encumbrance Certificate’ or ‘भारमुक्त प्रमाणपत्र /बारह साला’. Then, click on ‘आवेदन करें’ to apply for the certificate. This will redirect you to a new window.

IGRS UP has made it easy for citizens to apply for a certificate of the registered document via their online portal. The steps to apply for the certification are as follows:
Step 1: On the homepage of IGRS UP, click on the option’ Application for Registered Instrument Certificate’ or ‘Panjikrat Lekhpatra Ka Pramanpatra ka Aavedan’ on the left side of the screen.
Step 2: A new window will open. Fill in the details in the new window, such as the district, office of the sub-registrar, property type, year of registration, etc.
Step 3: Now, click on the ‘Sign In’ option, and you will be able to apply for the registered instrument certificate on the portal.
Complaint Procedure for IGRS Department of UP

Step 1: Visit the official website, jansunwai.up.nic.in.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Register Grievances’ option on the homepage. A disclaimer box will appear on the screen. Read all the points carefully and click on the ‘Submit’ option to move further.
