Specially constructed temporary structures on both sides of the flyover have facilitated the initial positioning of the steel box girders. These girders, each measuring approximately 30 meters in length, are being erected approximately 6 meters above the flyover.
U-Girders and I-Girders in Kanpur Metro Infrastructure: U-girders and I-girders are fundamental components of the Kanpur Metro infrastructure, primarily used for constructing viaducts that support the metro tracks. In the case of the Kanpur Metro, the average length of U-girders typically used is 27 meters. However, for the Baradevi-Naubasta elevated section, a unique decision has been made to utilize 45-meter-long “steel box girders” for this particular span.
Segments of Steel Box Girders for the Up-line and Down-Line: To ensure the seamless continuation of the project, the steel box girders need to be erected in three segments each, both for the “up-line” and “down-line.” The successful erection of the first segments of the girders, measuring around 30 meters each, was accomplished on Saturday morning. With the addition of two more segments, the length of each steel box girder will reach 45 meters.
