“Karnataka Expands Solar Infrastructure with Strategic Collaboration”

The Karnataka government has revealed its plans to develop another solar park in Madhugiri taluk within the Tumakuru district. Building on the success of the Pavagada Solar park, Energy Minister K J George announced this new initiative, which aims to expand the state’s clean energy infrastructure while prioritizing environmental sustainability and energy security.

A Strategic Partnership for Success: The Madhugiri Solar Park will be developed in partnership with Tehri Hydro Development Corporation India (THDCIL), a central government-owned entity. This collaboration seeks to leverage local expertise and resources to identify suitable land parcels for the project. By relying on the region’s renewable energy potential, Karnataka aims to achieve its renewable energy goals and instill confidence in the success of the Madhugiri Solar Park.

Promoting Solar Power in Agriculture: During his visit to Tumakuru, Energy Minister K J George also reviewed the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) project. He highlighted the persistent issues related to pump sets, such as transformer damage and power supply disruptions due to illegal connections. To address these challenges, the minister emphasized the importance of the KUSUM B and Kusum C projects, which promote the adoption of solar pump sets. Under the Kusum C project, the generation of 1 MW of electricity would require 4-5 acres of land. Notably, government land would be provided free of cost and leased for 25 years. Lessees would contribute Rs. 25,000 per acre annually during the lease period, with the funds being allocated to develop local anganwadis, schools, and panchayats.

Moving Towards Clean Energy and Sustainable Development: With the establishment of the Madhugiri Solar Park, Karnataka is taking significant strides towards achieving its renewable energy targets. By embracing clean energy solutions and promoting the use of solar power in the agriculture sector, the state aims to enhance energy security and minimize the environmental impact of energy production. The strategic partnership with THDCIL and the utilization of local expertise highlight Karnataka’s commitment to leveraging resources effectively and efficiently. Through these collective efforts, the state is not only setting an example in renewable energy generation but also demonstrating their dedication to sustainable development. As the plans for the Madhugiri Solar Park take shape, it is essential to recognize the potential transformative impact this project holds for the region. With increased clean energy infrastructure, Karnataka can build a greener future while ensuring a stable and reliable energy supply for its residents.
