KLES chairperson advocates for regional railway connectivity

KLES Chairperson Urges Union Ministers to Get Belagavi-Nippani-Kolhapur-Karad Railway Line Sanctioned

Former Rajya Sabha member and KLES Chairperson, Prabhakar Kore, has called on Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and Union Consumer Affairs Minister, Pralhad Joshi, to exert pressure on the Railway Minister for the sanctioning of the long-pending Belagavi-Nippani-Kolhapur-Karad new railway line between Karnataka and Maharashtra. Kore made this appeal during his acceptance of an honor from the citizens of Nippani, recognizing his significant contributions to the education, health, and agriculture sectors over the past four decades.

The event, organized by VSM’s Somashekhar Kothiwale Institute of Technology in Nippani town, involved the inauguration of a new MBA and BCA building. Kore stressed that the implementation of the new railway line would vastly improve economic activities in both states. As Karnataka is home to Union Minister of State for Railways, V Somanna, Kore requested the combined efforts of both ministers to ensure the project’s realization. He also extended an invitation to Gadkari and Joshi to attend the opening of a new 200-bed cancer hospital in Belagavi next month, as well as a super specialty hospital in Hubballi.

During the event, Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Pralhad Joshi, accompanied by Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi, praised Prabhakar Kore’s outstanding contribution to the health, education, and cooperative sectors. Gadkari specifically acknowledged Kore’s leadership in elevating the KLE Society to new heights through the establishment of educational institutions across the country and internationally. Joshi highlighted Gadkari’s contributions to the Belagavi region, including the sanctioning of four major highway projects: the Belagavi bypass, Hyderabad-Raichur, Koganolli-Belagavi, and Gokak-Kagawad.

Chandrakant Kothiwale, Chairperson of Vidya Sanvardhan Mandal (VSM)-Nippani, elaborated on the organization’s mission. Founded in 1960 to provide education to Kannada and Marathi students in the border town of Nippani, VSM is committed to delivering high-quality education. Kothiwale mentioned plans to soon introduce nursing and ayurvedic colleges, expanding educational opportunities within the region.

Among other attendees at the event were MLAs Ganesh Hukkeri, Vitthal Halagekar, Duryodhan Aihole, Arvind Bellad, Shashikala Jolle, MLC Prakash Hukkeri, BUDA Chairman Laxmanrao Chingale, as well as former MLAs Kakasaheb Patil, Vilas Joshi, and Veerkumar Patil.
