Uttar Pradesh is home to some of the most ambitious smart city projects, and Lucknow is top of the Uttar Pradesh Smart City’s list. Lucknow Municipal Corporation and Lucknow Smart City Limited aim to change the outlook of the state.

Projects Managed by Lucknow Smart City Limited (LSCL)
Smart City Project under Lucknow Smart City Limited has taken the initiative to fast-track 11 projects centred on safety, water treatment and re-use, cleanliness, and road connectivity and traffic.
LSCL has 41 projects under their wing with a total estimation worth Rs. 930 crores. The projects are based on four themes-
- Jeevant (Liveable)
- Swachh (Clean)
- Sugam (Mobility)
- Samruddh (Prosperous)
Besides the above projects, LSCL has launched multiple enterprises in collaboration with Lucknow Municipal Corporation to make municipal services easier, convenient, efficient, and affordable for city residents.
LSCL has initiated numerous smart solutions all over Lucknow. These include –
- A state-of-the-art traffic control centre utilizes an Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) for continuous live monitoring of city traffic.
- An electronic surveillance system that includes cameras and electronic detectors for field surveillance.
- For traffic management and control, a Public Address system (PA system) has been installed at key intersections in the city.
- Over 150 traffic junctions have been equipped with automated traffic lights to regulate traffic flow.
- The E-challan is also being used to promote traffic discipline among travellers.
- An Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) that monitors and controls multiple municipal services 24×7 has been established.
- 11 Air Quality Monitoring systems are connected through electronic sensors to the ICCC to monitor air quality 24×7.
- Electricity bills have been reduced significantly by centralizing streetlight monitoring.
- With electronic surveillance, public services such as solid waste management and street sweeping can now be monitored door-to-door.
- Provisions of footpaths for pedestrian and underground utility ducts are developed under the Smart Road Project (9.68 km).

Health ATM Kiosks Installation in Lucknow
The Smart City Project in Lucknow is working towards improving the health services, especially after the covid mishappenings.
The e-Health initiative, in collaboration with the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), has launched the Telemedicine Centre-cum-Health ATM Project to provide health check-ups and telemedicine services with given prescriptions to the Lucknow residents. This project plans to establish 100 Health ATM Kiosks throughout the city.
Lucknow – A Crime-Free Smart City
The collaboration between the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Ministry of Home Affairs has resulted in the Safe City project in Lucknow to make it safer for women. An Integrated Smart Control Room will be set up to monitor the crime against women 24×7. With the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, real-time crime incidents will be captured.
Smart-City Project Citizen App
LSCL, under Smart City Project, has developed a citizen app named Lucknow-One that allows Lucknow citizens the access to multiple civic services through their smartphones.
The numerous features of the app are:
- Helpline numbers for Lucknow Police, ambulance service, women and children helpline, and senior citizen helpline.
- Complaints can be registered regarding electricity and water supply, stray animals, city roads, housing, and healthcare.
- Details regarding nearby ATMs, parking lots, schools, community centres, public toilets, and hotels.
- Online booking for water tankers and city community hall.
The Lucknow-One app is accessible from the Google Play Store and Apple Store.
