As part of the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) program, the state government has sanctioned a massive sum of Rs 70 billion for 38 Projectss aimed at easing traffic congestion in various parts of the city and nearby municipalities.
Key Developments Under the Strategic Road Development Programme
The project is an extension of the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) initiated by the previous BRS government, which aimed to improve road infrastructure in Hyderabad.
Out of the 42 works under SRDP, a remarkable 36 projects have been completed, marking a significant milestone in the city’s infrastructure development.
Notable Completions: The Nehru Zoological Park to Araamghar Flyover
The Nehru Zoological Park to Aramghar flyover, spanning 4.04 km, stands out as the longest flyover after the PVNR Expressway, which is 11.6 km long.
The flyover is set to be inaugurated by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on January 6, a significant event in the city’s transportation landscape.
Infrastructure Achievements: A Major Boost to Connectivity
The completion of SRDP projects, including 22 flyovers, 5 underpasses, 6 road-over-bridges (ROBs), and 3 other works, has had a tangible impact on traffic efficiency.
The construction of major flyovers such as the Bairamalguda second-level flyover, Abdul Kalam flyover, and Chandrayangutta flyover has significantly reduced travel time and fuel consumption for commuters travelling between Secunderabad, Warangal, and Medchal to Hyderabad airport.
The Potential Impact on Transportation and Infrastructure
The completion of these road infrastructure projects is expected to benefit approximately 1,700 to 2,000 buses, including private buses, that are dispatched daily from Imlibun(Nodal Bus Depot) and other bus stations in and around the city.
The Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) Park area is also witnessing major road infrastructure developments, including flyovers, underpasses, and ROBs, aimed at enhancing connectivity and ease of transportation in the region.
