Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Launches Extensive Infrastructure Projects in Manipur
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has taken a significant step towards improving infrastructure in Manipur by approving 50 National Highway projects in the state. These projects will cover a total distance of 1,026 kilometers, with a strong emphasis on the hilly areas of Manipur.
Development in Challenging Terrains
Out of the 50 approved projects, 44 will be specifically dedicated to areas with difficult terrains, spanning a distance of 902 kilometers. This decision reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure in regions that face unique challenges due to hilly topography.
It is worth noting that eight projects covering a length of 125 kilometers have already been completed, showcasing the progress achieved thus far. At present, 36 more projects are in various stages of development, with a budget of Rs 120 billion allocated to completing the remaining 777 kilometers.
Aim for Better Development and Connectivity

Alongside the National Highway projects, the Ministry is also prioritizing the improvement of state roads through the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF). With 111 proposed works on the table, the Ministry has approved 57 projects based on priority.
