One of the major highlights of this event will be the inauguration of the first phase of the Pune Metro Rail Project. This milestone includes the completion of the underground section from District Court to Swargate, which was constructed at a cost of ?1,810 crore. This metro project will greatly improve the city’s transportation system and provide its residents with a reliable and efficient mode of commute.
To further expand the metro network, Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the Pune Metro Swargate-Katraj Extension. With an estimated cost of ?2,950 crore, this extension will ensure that more areas of the city are connected by metro, further reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity.
Promoting Clean Energy and Sustainable Mobility
During this visit, the Prime Minister will underscore his commitment to promoting clean energy and sustainable mobility. As part of this initiative, he will dedicate 500 new EV charging stations across the country, with plans to install a total of 10,000 stations by 2025. This ambitious project, with a budget of ?1,500 crore, aims to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles and reduce carbon emissions.
Additionally, Modi will inaugurate 20 Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) stations, with plans for 50 more in the future. This initiative, with an investment of ?500 crore, aims to promote the use of cleaner fuel alternatives in the transportation sector.
Moreover, to promote the use of ethanol-blended petrol and reduce the dependence on fossil fuels, 1,500 retail outlets for E20 20% ethanol-blended petrol will be launched during this visit. With a total investment of ?225 crore, this project will contribute to the government’s sustainable energy goals.
Infrastructure Development and Economic Growth
In addition to these initiatives, the Prime Minister will also dedicate way side amenities for truck and cab drivers, which were constructed at a cost of ?2,170 crore. These amenities, located across states like Maharashtra, Punjab, Gujarat, and Karnataka, will provide essential services such as safe parking, boarding, and lodging facilities. This will not only improve the working conditions of these professionals but also ensure safer and more efficient road transportation in the country.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Solapur Airport and the Bidkin Industrial Area during his visit to Pune. These projects are part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Program and are aimed at boosting economic growth in the Marathwada region. These initiatives will attract investment, create job opportunities, and contribute to the overall development of the area.
In conclusion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Pune marks a significant step towards enhancing India’s energy and transport infrastructure. The inauguration of the Pune Metro Rail Project, the launch of green energy projects, and the dedication of essential amenities for truck and cab drivers demonstrate the government’s commitment to sustainable development and economic growth. These projects will not only improve the quality of life for the residents of Pune but also contribute to the overall progress of the nation.
