There is a system of tax calculation which incorporates the size and use of the property. Faridabad and Gurgaon have been designated as A1 cities for property tax collection.
Municipal property tax online is the portal of Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon. It has been created to simplify the calculation, assessment and collection of property taxes from the citizens. There is a system of tax collection followed by the corporation.
- In Gurugram and Faridabad- the rate of property tax for residential property
In Gurugram for taxation the residential properties are sub-divided into independent houses, apartments or flats and vacant plots. Their charges do vary depending on the type of property.

The above rates apply to properties on the ground floor. If there are many floors, there is a rebate of 40% on the 1st floor and 50% on the 2nd floor while paying taxes. There is no rebate if each floor is owned by different people individually. There is no tax on parking in the basement area or there is no taxation for the basement.

- Property tax on PGs in Gurugram
Paying Guest accommodations in Gurugram was treated as residential property before 2018 and it was taxed like that. Afterwards, having realised that the Municipal Corporation was incurring losses, it changed the category of PGs from residences to lodging houses. It was done to impose a property tax. Now the owners have to pay Rs1000 per bed per year on PG accommodation. It has been changed under a state Act.
