Under the state’s Rural Works Department (RWD), a total of 6,199 road and bridge projects with a combined worth of ?88.38 billion ($1.06 billion) were either inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid. These projects are set to transform the transportation network and bridge the connectivity gap in Bihar’s rural regions.

Chief Minister Gram Sampark Yojana – Initiatives and Impact

As part of the Chief Minister Gram Sampark Yojana, 763 roads, stretching 947 kilometers, were built at a cost of ?9.83 billion ($118 million). Additionally, four bridges with a combined length of 435 meters were constructed under this plan. These infrastructure projects will greatly improve transport and connect remote communities.

Chief Minister Rural Road Maintenance Programme – Enhancing Rural Infrastructure

A total of 972 roads, spanning an impressive 1,904 kilometers, were repaired and upgraded at a cost of ?11.13 billion ($134 million) as part of the Chief Minister Rural Road Maintenance Programme. This maintenance initiative addresses vital repairs, strengthening connectivity, and improving safety for rural residents.

Chief Minister Rural Road Development Scheme – Uplifting Localities

Under the Chief Minister Rural Road Development Scheme, 33 road segments, covering a length of 104 kilometers, were upgraded with an investment of ?920 million ($11 million). This strategic initiative aims to develop and modernize key roadways, further contributing to economic growth and accessibility in rural Bihar.

Looking Towards Future Developments

In addition to inaugurating projects, foundations were laid for cutting-edge infrastructure initiatives. A staggering 1,472 roads, covering a remarkable 1,571 kilometers, and five additional bridges measuring 304 meters in length will be constructed at an estimated cost of ?18.24 billion ($219 million).

Moreover, 2,306 roads stretching an impressive 4,148 kilometers will undergo repairs and maintenance under the Chief Minister Rural Road Maintenance Programme. This vital initiative, with an investment value of ?23.5 billion ($283 million), ensures the sustained longevity of Bihar’s rural road network.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones for 442 roads covering a length of 1,701 kilometers, and one bridge measuring 27 meters, to be upgraded under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Sadak Unnayan Yojana with an investment of ?17.39 billion ($209 million). These developments aim to enhance connectivity, spur local economic growth, and improve the lives of residents in these areas.
