Union Minister Piyush Goyal Launches PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for Aspirational Districts
The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, recently launched the district version of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for 27 aspirational districts in India. This event coincided with the celebration of three years since the inception of PM GatiShakti.
Transforming Infrastructure Planning with Gatishakti
During the launch, Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the significance of Gatishakti as a powerful and intelligent infrastructure planning tool. He emphasized that the district master plan unveiled is part of a larger initiative that will encompass over 750 districts throughout the country within the next 18 months. This expansion aims to further enhance infrastructure planning and development on a national scale.
Guidelines for City Logistics Plans Introduced
In addition, the minister also introduced the ‘Guidelines for Preparing City Logistics Plans for Indian Cities.’ These guidelines will serve as a resource for cities to customize their logistics planning, aligning it with their unique vision, objectives, and local characteristics. The aim is to optimize logistical operations and improve efficiency in city planning.
India’s Technological Leap in Infrastructure Planning
Minister Goyal proudly remarked that PM GatiShakti represents India’s contribution to the future of infrastructure planning worldwide. This tool utilizes over 1,600 layers of validated and regularly updated data from both the central and state levels. With such an extensive database, the planning process becomes faster, more efficient, and cost-effective. Goyal predicts that this technology will soon be adopted by numerous countries internationally, instilling confidence in India’s infrastructure projects.
Data-backed Decision Making and Efficient Budget Allocation
The PM GatiShakti portal was developed by the BISAG-N Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics in Gujarat. This GIS-enabled platform will enable the government to make more data-backed decisions, resulting in significant cost savings. Additionally, this data-driven approach will improve the efficiency of budget allocations, ensuring infrastructure projects are initiated and completed with the utmost precision.
The launch of the district version of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan brings a new wave of efficient infrastructure planning not only to the 27 aspirational districts but sets the stage for nationwide transformation. With technology at the heart of this initiative, India is rapidly becoming a global leader in innovation and sustainable development.
