Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially launched and laid the foundation for various developmental projects in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, with a cumulative value of over Rs 8,000 crore. India’s First Namo Bharat Rapid Rail and New Vande Bharat Train Routes
One of the significant highlights of the inauguration was the launch of India’s first Namo Bharat Rapid Rail service. The service connects Ahmedabad to Bhuj, providing a faster mode of transportation for commuters. Additionally, PM Modi introduced several new Vande Bharat train routes, including services from Nagpur to Secunderabad, Kolhapur to Pune, Agra Cantt to Banaras, Durg to Visakhapatnam, and Pune to Hubballi. To mark the occasion, he also flagged off a Vande Bharat train, consisting of 20 coaches, from Varanasi to Delhi. These new train services will significantly improve intercity connectivity and ease travel between various popular destinations.
Streamlining Operational Processes: Single Window IT System SWITS
In line with the government’s efforts to promote ease of doing business, PM Modi launched the Single Window IT System (SWITS) for the International Financial Services Centres Authority. The system aims to streamline operational processes, ensure ease of communication, and enhance efficiency within the financial services sector housed in International Financial Services Centres (IFSCs). This move will contribute to creating a conducive environment for diplomatic, legal, educational, and financial institutions, helping IFSCs attract global investments.
Enhancing Transportation Connectivity: Quadrupling Railway Lines, Iconic Roads, and Flyover Bridges
Recognizing the importance of efficient transportation networks, several initiatives have been launched to enhance connectivity in Ahmedabad. The quadrupling of the Samakhiali-Gandhidham and Gandhidham-Adipur railway lines is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of logistics and transportation in the region. Additionally, plans are in place for the development of iconic roads within the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), aiming to enhance city connectivity and improve transit ease for residents.
In a bid to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance travel times, construction for flyover bridges has been initiated at Bakrol, Hathijan, Ramol, and Panjarpol Junction. These new flyover bridges will offer smoother traffic control and reduce congestion at key junctions, making travel more convenient for citizens.
Promoting Sustainable Energy: Solar PV Projects and 220 kV Substations
Addressing the pressing need for sustainable energy practices, PM Modi inaugurated a 30 MW solar system and a 35 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Solar PV Project at the Kutch Lignite Thermal Power Station. These solar initiatives represent a step towards promoting renewable energy usage and reducing dependency on conventional power sources.
Furthermore, to bolster power infrastructure, the establishment of 220 kV substations in Morbi and Rajkot will play a crucial role in efficient power distribution and supply in the region. Promoting Affordable Housing: Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
Aligned with the vision for affordable housing for all, Prime Minister Modi shared that over 30,000 houses have been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin initiative. These homes are designed to provide safe and secure housing to the economically disadvantaged citizens of Gujarat.
