The commuters of Ranchi who were facing a tough time when passing through the Kutchery-Piska road can sigh relief now. The facility of elevated roads in Ranchi is expected to come upon stretch in two years.
The Upcoming Elevated Roads in Ranchi are a Sigh of Relief for Commuters
PM Modi placed the foundation stone for the elevated road corridor project in Ranchi-a first in Jharkhand-distance from Deoghar on the sidelines of the temple town’s airport inauguration function.
The 3.6 km stretch is nestled in the city’s heart, lined with apparel stores, offices, and vegetable shops. This comes under the list of the busiest commercial hubs in Ranchi. Around 15,000 to 20,000 vehicles pass by this road daily, which links commuters with NH-23.
Apart from utilising this stretch for a daily commute, people usually pass by this road to the Daltonganj and Gumla districts instead of opting for a longer route via Ring Road. Thus, the entire stretch is chock-full of traffic throughout the day and in late evenings when heavy vehicles enter the area.
For this reason, the commuters used to complain about the same to the city government. As a result, the new projects for Ranchi roads, the “elevated Ranchi road corridor”, are expected soon to decongest the traffic issue. Reportedly, after completing this project, the riders and commuters will get a smooth ride and easy convenience on this stretch.
Moreover, the 3.6 km long elevated corridor from Kutchery to Piska via Ratu road will be a four-lane road which is going to be built on a single pillar. Under the project of the elevated roads in Ranchi, RMC will also be turning the persisting roads into a four-lane stretch.

The chosen agency is expected to start the construction by July 15th (the appointed date), and they’ll have to complete the project in the next two years, said the chief general manager-cum-regional officer of the NHAI (National Highways Authority of India), SK Mishra.
As per the reports, KCC Construction Pvt. Ltd., a Haryana-based construction firm, has been appointed for this project. Mishra stated that the Ranchi road project’s main goal is to acquire as little land as possible, which would otherwise cause the project to be delayed.
The estimated cost to complete the full project is around Rs. 534 crores. Multiple plans to off-load the Ratu-Piska stretch were made in the past, but something or the other came in between, and the plans didn’t work. In the past years, we worked hard to get the design through, and after a few technical feasibility studies, NHAI ultimately gave the green flag to this project, said, Mishra.
