In an effort to enhance rail infrastructure and connectivity in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple railway projects. Valued at a total of Rs 28.71 billion, these initiatives aim to decongest key routes, boost rail capacity, and promote social and economic development in industrial, resource-rich, and tribal regions.
Improving Connectivity
The projects include various sections that will greatly benefit the region. One of them is the 25.39 km Lanjigarh Road-Ambadola-Doikallu Section, which is part of the Vizianagaram-Titilagarh 3rd Line Project. With an estimated cost of Rs 4.32 billion, this section is expected to improve connectivity between western Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Foundation Stones for Future Developments
In addition to inaugurating ongoing projects, Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stones for future railway developments in the state.
One of these upcoming projects is the Siju-Paradeep Flyover, which involves the construction of a 7 km long flyover. Valued at Rs 2 billion, this flyover aims to ensure smooth train movements around Paradeep Port, further facilitating trade in the region.
Another significant foundation stone laying is for the Paradeep-Badabandha 3rd & 4th Line project. Spanning across 18.51 km, this expansion is estimated to cost around Rs 3 billion, enhancing the capacity of Paradeep Port.
The Prime Minister will also participate in the ceremony for the MCRL Inner Corridor Doubling Phase-1 project. This project involves a 10.93 km stretch and is valued at Rs 1.52 billion. Its goal is to improve coal evacuation capabilities in the region.
An important rail link, the Jeypore-Nabarangpur New Line project, will also see the laying of its foundation stone. This 41.9 km long line is estimated to cost Rs 7.48 billion, aiming to connect tribal regions to markets and stimulate economic growth.
Fueling Development in Odisha
These various railway projects align with the government’s vision to strengthen Odisha’s rail network, thus supporting local economies and contributing to national development.
With improved connectivity and enhanced capacity, these projects will enable smoother movement of goods and people, driving economic growth and providing opportunities for businesses to flourish in the region.
