Water Condition of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)

Pune’s water generally comes from the dams and rivers of Temghar, Panshet, Khadakwasla, Warasgaon, Pashan, and Katraj. When PMC receives this water from the irrigation department, it cleans the water off all its pollutants via various water treatment plans so that it can be used safely and daily.

After the water is cleaned, PMC supplies it to different regions of the city via far-reaching resources of safe pipelines and plumbing centers. PMC even tackles water shortages in the city via rainwater harvesting. It is also introducing the reuse of groundwater for non-drinking purposes like washing vehicles or watering plants.

It is believed that PMC spends much of its tax amount on water supply facilities. Recently PMC has got the proposal approval that states 24/7 supply of water in Pune city. This big step could help handle the water supply issues in the city.

It is because of the dearth of clean water and the intense process of constantly producing drinkable and clear water that PMC charges for its water usage.
