As per the latest reports, Rs. 65, 000 crore worth of railway infrastructure projects have already obtained approval and will boost the Mumbai suburban railway network along with real estate markets in surrounding areas. The Maharashtra Government has been an active backer of these ventures for the improvement of transportation facilities.
The suburban railway system in Mumbai will be majorly upgraded and this will give several areas better connectivity to the major parts of the city. A new Nerul-Seawoods Darave-Belapur-Kharkopar railway network has been commissioned in Navi Mumbai as the first phase of the Nerul-Belapur-Uran 27 km route on the Central Railway’s Harbour route.
The first phase comprising of 12 kilometres has already been approved with regular services expected to commence very soon, connecting Ulwe in Navi Mumbai with the CST and Panvel to Thane via the Trans-Harbour route. The Maharashtra Government is targeting a trillion dollar economy for the State by the year 2025 with the Indian Railways set to contribute majorly to this achievement as per the Union Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal.
8 MEMU services have also been launched between Vasai Road-Diva-Panvel-Pen. Some other amenities include six foot over bridges, 41 escalators across 23 stations, 6 toilets, 10 lifts, 318 new ATVMs across 77 stations and more. Other improvements included 206 added CCTV cameras for 6 stations, IP-based train indicators for 10 stations, two new booking offices at the Naved Road and Bhiwandi Road stations and increases of platform height to 900 mm across 273 platforms. Additionally, a one megawatt solar power unit has been set up at Sanpada’s EMU Carshed.
All in all, the improvement of connectivity via the new railway corridor will boost housing markets in several Mumbai suburbs. Ulwe is one of the areas expected to benefit hugely. Some of the major realty projects in Ulwe include Lakhani Oasis, Neelkanth Bliss and Mahaavir Mannat to name a few.
