The G20 Summit is set to be conducted in New Delhi from 8th to 10th September., 2023 under the Indian presidency. The preparation for the G20 Summit has been going on throughout the country since last year. On the occasion of the Summit, several schools, colleges, government offices, and shops will be closed in the capital region. Essential services like medical stores, hospitals, and milk kiosks will be open.
Central government offices, banks and schools will remain closed from 8th to 10th September, 2023. All financial institutions and commercial banks under the jurisdiction of Delhi Police and Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 (26 of 1881) will be closed in the aforementioned days. Markets like Connaught Place, Janpath Mohan Singh Place, Khan Market, Palika Bazar, Shankar Market and Malcha Marg will be closed on this occasion.
The metro services will be available for all passengers. However, the Supreme Court Metro Station will have restricted movement on 9th and 10th September, 2023, from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Boarding and deboarding will not be allowed at the Supreme Court Metro Station.
The G20 Summit will be held on 9th and September 10 at Bharat Mandapam at the ITPO Convention Centre, Pragati Maidan. The delegates will visit several key areas in the Capital Region like Jaipur House (NGMA), IARI Pusa and Rajghat.
The Summit’s focus will be on “Vasudaiva Kutumbakam”, which means One Earth, One Family and One Future. The theme highlights the interconnectedness of beings and their surroundings. Economic reforms, environmental health, and sustainability are the main themes discussed in the summit. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US and the European Union are the countries taking part in this year’s G20 Summit.
