“Revitalization project brings new life”

In a significant move towards improving urban habitat in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M K Stalin announced in the Assembly on Friday that the state government would undertake the repair and reconstruction of 28,643 decrepit flats managed by the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. This project will be carried out over the next three years, with 6,746 apartments set to be reconstructed in the first phase.

Investment in Urban Habitat Development: The chief minister highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing the housing issues faced by the state’s residents. According to Stalin, the first phase of the project, which includes the East Cemetery Road, Kodungaiyur, VOC areas in Chennai, as well as project areas in Thanjavur and Tiruchirapalli, will require an investment of Rs 11.46 billion. Over the past three years, the government has successfully accelerated the construction of 1.70 lakh individual dwellings and 29,439 apartments.
