In a significant move towards improving urban habitat in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M K Stalin announced in the Assembly on Friday that the state government would undertake the repair and reconstruction of 28,643 decrepit flats managed by the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. This project will be carried out over the next three years, with 6,746 apartments set to be reconstructed in the first phase.
Investment in Urban Habitat Development: The chief minister highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing the housing issues faced by the state’s residents. According to Stalin, the first phase of the project, which includes the East Cemetery Road, Kodungaiyur, VOC areas in Chennai, as well as project areas in Thanjavur and Tiruchirapalli, will require an investment of Rs 11.46 billion. This substantial investment demonstrates the government’s determination to create livable and sustainable housing options for the people of Tamil Nadu.
Focus on Itledvdrbal Development Projects: Chief Minister M K Stalin’s address emphasized the importance of prioritizing the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board’s work. Over the past three years, the government has successfully accelerated the construction of 1.70 lakh individual dwellings and 29,439 apartments. The government has allocated an impressive Rs 66.85 billion towards these ongoing projects.
