The Delhi Metro’s Pink Line has received another major boost with the route between Shiv Vihar and Trilok Puri Sanjay Lake being officially opened. This is a 17.8 kilometre stretch out of a total route of 59 kilometres on the Pink Line. The opening of this new line means that the Delhi Metro will be operating around 4, 749 trips each day. The Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar corridor has already been flagged off by several dignitaries such as Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and Hardeep Puri, the Housing & Urban Affairs Minister. The opening of this section of the Pink Line will boost connectivity for those living in northern and eastern Delhi along with those living in Ghaziabad. As a result, real estate markets in these areas are expected to receive a major boost. The Delhi Metro has already added more than 80 kilometres across new routes in 2018 itself which is a big feat. This corridor is the first such Metro Section in Phase 3 of the project that is running through eastern Delhi. This section has 15 sections including Trilok Puri Sanjay Lake, Mandawali-West Vinod Nagar, East Vinod Nagar-Mayur Vihar II, Anand Vihar ISBT, IP Extension, Karkardooma Court, Karkardooma, East Azad Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Maujpur-Babarpur, Jaffrabad, Shiv Vihar, Gokulpuri, Welcome and Johri Enclave. This stretch will boost those living in the eastern and northern outskirts of New Delhi. There are interchange options for the Red Line at Welcome and at Anand Vihar ISBT and Karkardooma for the Blue Line. This route will be linked in the future to the Majlis Park-Lajpat Nagar part of the Pink Line. The Vinod Nagar Depot will be majorly taking care of service requirements for the Pink Line and this is situated near NH-24.
