In the latest Noida News, Supertech Emerald Court was brought down to mere rubble and dust in a matter of 9-10 seconds, followed by a Supreme Court order amid a suspended controversy.
The mammoth Supertech Twin Towers were subjected to the waterfall implosion technique. Experts noted that this was the best possible option from its counterpart methods which could have taken more time to execute. Furthermore, they were confident to execute the operation with minimal damage restricting to mere cosmetic cracks.

It was the morning of August 28. All residents adjacent to the Supertech Twin Towers were asked to evacuate the premises immediately. Elders, children, pets, and stray animals were all given special attention during the evacuation. Everyone was asked to wear face masks during and after the event. Furthermore, gas supply and electricity services were halted temporarily. Everyone was in grave anticipation, and residents eagerly awaited the demolition of the mammoth Supertech Twin Towers with crippling anxiety.
A decade-long fight against Supertech builders finally had a positive result for the residents claiming that the construction was illegal. People were as thrilled as they were cautious and tense. It was logical that the adjacent residents felt this way because the demolition would involve 3,700 kgs of explosives installed over two weeks. Emergency squads were deployed in the streets with water tankers ready if anything went sideways. Ambulances were stationed along with reserved spaces in the nearby hospitals. The whole event was planned systematically with little to no room for error. Edifice Engineering undertook the demolition in collaboration with a South African demolition expert company, Jet Demolitions. The proceedings were assured to be smooth and damage-free by the undertakers.
The Edifice Engineering official Chetan Dutta tweeted on the event by saying that he was merely 70 meters away from the explosion and witnessed a cent percent successful raze down. There were 10 personnel in his team, along with assistance from 7 foreign experts.

The demolition went off at 2:30 pm sharp, and it took merely 9 seconds for both the towers to go down. The building stood 103 meters tall over a 7.5 lakh square feet space that housed a whopping 900 residential apartments. The residents of the Supertech twin towers are in a hazy spot after the demolition as they wonder whether or not they will be compensated. The court’s directive has assured that a refund will be included with a 14% interest addition. However, the adjacent housing societies are thrilled and happy with the decision to raze down the towers after a decade-long fight. Authorities of the Supertech twin towers said they incurred a loss of 500 crores after the operation. As per many, this move of the Noida twin tower demolition symbolises the fight against the capitalist monopolies.
The nearby residents were allowed re-entry to their respective apartments after the destruction following thorough sanity checks by the authorities. There were AQI machines installed to monitor the air quality. Furthermore, the dust from the aftermath is still expected to be cleaned up in about 2 to 3 weeks. Manpower has already been assigned and deployed for the clean-up operation. There was no reported damage to any gas pipeline, and the supply has resumed. Various advisories came from doctors and experts, which the bystanders obediently followed. This led to the successful commencement of the operation.
Some conservationists believe that there could be collateral damage and animal casualties. This was inferred from the fact that a large flock of birds were seen scattering off in their plight to evade dangers from the 3,700 kg explosion. Furthermore, there are reported damages to an adjacent society’s boundary, along with a few cracked window panes here and there.
This has been seen as a fair warning to all real estate developers to properly adhere to norms and avoid any violations at all costs. There could be zero-tolerance in such cases as people are now more aware, and their voices could pave the way to more such demolitions of illegal structures.
