Stepping into Sonam Kapoor’s house in London, one can instantly feel at home. The breeze on the streets of Notting Hill narrates stories of worldwide artists. It only makes sense for an art enthusiast like Sonam to live in London. Inspired from classic British Architecture, the interiors of the actor’s abode exude a blend of vintage patterns.

The 20th-century neoclassical architecture of Sonam Kapoor’s house peeks through the pavements of the bohemian village in England. The crescent ascends with white stucco housing, luxury villas and garden squares. 

Speaking of her local experiences in London, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja not only reminisces about her time rummaging through the Portobello market for olive oils, but also bonding with the neighbours.

“Suddenly I was living a very local life with no planes or premieres”, says Sonam, cherishing her lifestyle in London.

Entering the Indo-British Abode of Sonam Kapoor

The elaborative character of the street is mirrored in pertinent sections of the residential facade. From intricate pillars to placing windows on the front wall, the layout reminds us of the Victorian Era. Although the exteriors of the house speak of simplicity, you must let the elaborate interior paint itself in words. 

Kitchen and Dining: The Heart of Sonam Kapoor‘s House

Describing this space as the heart of the house, its exaggerated character reverberates drama.

Breaking the English quintessence, the decor of the dining room draws inspiration from India. The backdrop from de Gournay reminds you of the 18th and 19th centuries where India can be seen blending with the British scapes. 

Sonam and Anand have held on to their roots through indigenous interior pieces and stills. The colour scheme of the kitchen and dining revolves around the classic beiges and off-whites along with touches of pink suedes and rose. 

The design of the kitchen counters traces the basics of black and white, with subtle panels dividing the doors of the cabinets. The meticulous camouflage of the chimney makes these blend into the wall seamlessly.  

The island area of the kitchen can be seen being elaborated by using crystal cast glass antique pendant lights. Interestingly, the dining table was the first interior piece that she bought for her home. Made of solid hardwood, the Cire Trudon candle and flowers add a British touch to the table. One cannot let go of the elephant-headed scones, that were hand-printed to match the wallpaper.

The Living Room: Sonam’s Favourite Lounging Space

A step away from the dining area, we find ourselves in a divergent interiorscape. But, what intrigues the eye is how well the contrasts go together. 

In her living room, the fashionista has channelled beauty in chaos.The actor can be seen marooned in her sofas, resting her bare feet on Shroff’s handcrafted Indian carpet. The foliage wallpaper in the backdrop takes us to a tropical timeline and the dado wall panel cladding gives it a seamless boundary. 

“There’s some magic when gold and silver come together”, says Sonam Kapoor Ahuja in a conversation with the media. Elaborating on the prolific space, the addition of the coffee table in the centre adds an extra dimension of drama. The stan sofas and lighting hold the final look together.

Can a Powder Room be Dramatic? Sonam says Yes!

Sonam flaunts her dramatic personality through the adapted colour scheme in the powder room. This interiorscape is aggrandized with the use of an elaborate printed wallpaper. The faucets in gold only add to the dramaturgy of the interior scheme. Sonam addresses the “Toto Pots” to be her favourite part of the powder room. 

Foliage of the Bedroom

The bedroom is put together in a minimal scheme. With a lot less to keep our eyes on, the tropical wallpaper is a work of flattery. The intricate details on the shutters have been further dramatised using the French pressed flowers from the 1940s and the ‘50s. Sonam also expresses how pressed flowers tune in the romantic mood. Designed and fabricated in India, this is definitely one of the spaces that is quite personal to the actor.

Studio Space across the Street

Right across the street from Sonam Kapoor’s Notting Hill residence is her studio space which she shares with her husband Anand Ahuja. 

The layout of the studio space stands in a different genre of interior design. Incorporating art from the Jhaveri Contemporary, Sonam has subsumed the works of young South-Asian artists on the walls of her work bubble. 

Since the overall interior frame is minimal yet contemporary, the setting of every element appeals to composition. 

The space is utilised for her readings, meetings and fittings. In a recent interview, Sonam dispenses facts about how the script and costume fittings for upcoming movie Blind took place in her studio. A Naga table , charpais and a Pierre Jeanneret chair fill her studio with contrasting furnishings that tie the space together.

Spread over an area of 3170 square yards, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s house  is situated on Prithviraj Road in Delhi. The property was purchased by the Ahuja family in the year 2015 for INR 173 crores. While Sonam travelled to Delhi during the lockdown, she gave her fans a glimpse inside the house as the couple engaged in their daily chores. A tree-clad garden space became the backdrop for the couple’s morning routine. The wooden furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows and other vintage collectables added to the entire scape of the house. With every lampshade that Sonam places on a coffee table, it comes from a specific sense of style that can be seen all around the house. 

The power couple can be seen sharing integrated spaces, working on various endeavours. The crafting of their office space incubated Bhaane and Vegnonveg, which skyrocketed in the fashion industry via celebrity entrepreneurs.

New Mother and Bollywood Actress Sonam Kapoor recently sold her luxurious Mumbai apartment that she bought in June 2015. This beautoful apartment has been sold off to SMF Infrastructure Pvt Ltd for a whopping amount of  Rs 32.5 crore. 

The apartment has a carpet area of 5,533 sq. ft situated near Bandra Kurla Complex. The deal is finalised in the last week of December 2022.
