Currently, Sourav Ganguly’s house location has changed from Biren Roy Road in Behala to a 23.6-kottah plot with a two-storey building on Lower Rawdon Street worth INR 40 crores. The cricket legend will not be moving in pronto as he wants to give the house a complete makeover. The plan is to demolish the existing building and establish a new mansion as per his style and comfort. The Indian skipper purchased his new home from a Gujarati family.

Sourav Ganguly’s house is a three-storey bungalow with red brick paint on the exterior and a long balcony on each floor. You are welcomed into the house by the foliage of plants and flowers with sprawling lawns where the skipper usually takes his morning walks. He states that walking through the house’s entrance gives him a sense of comfort.

Sourav Ganguly, affectionately called “Dada” by everyone, began his cricket career here with his brother, Snehasish. The siblings trained on concrete wickets under their father, Chandidas Ganguly’s direction.

There is no estimated cost of the grand Ganguly house. However, situated in the south-western suburbs of Kolkata, the house cost could easily be several tens of crores.

The Ganguly house holds a special place for the 49-year-old BCCI President as he has lived in the same home ever since.

The living area of the Ganguly house is mostly for family time where he watches most of the cricket matches. 

There is a sitting area that extends from the living area for guests and friends. The living room has an earthy colour scheme that complements the furniture’s neutral tones. The Indian captain, like his mother, favours light shades for his house, keeping it neutral white. He is not a fan of flashy blue or red inside the house. In addition to the lighter textures, the captain believes they bring forth positive energy and a sense of calmness. The rollback-tufted sofa and the round marble coffee table are all in shades of white along with tub-shaped white chairs.

The living area in Sourav Ganguly’s house has white pillars that provide a transition between the living room and dining room. The adjacent room to the extended living room has granite-black marble flooring, mocha printed rollback tufted sofas and light wood brown armchairs with round marble coffee tables.

The Dining Area – Where Legends Dine

As part of the dining area inside Sourav Ganguly’s house, a large dining table with a glass table top and Victorian style chairs in white and gold theme sits between white marble pillars. The rest of the dining area has cream tones on the wall and large windows filling the space with natural light. Right next to the dining table is a capitvating  and intricate artwork on the wall.

The former captain has hosted many of his cricket friends – Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and many other cricket legends. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has visited Sourav Ganguly’s house for a meal during the promotion of his 2009 movie, 3 idiots.

Ganguly once revealed that his mother still serves food to him and his family members to this day, a habit she cannot abandon. Well, a mother’s love will never change no matter how grown-up or famous one is!

Prince of Kolkata’s Special Corner 

Sourav Ganguly’s house has a special corner only for him. He calls it ‘early morning corner’ where he spends his morning with a cup of tea, a few nibbles and a good read of the newspaper to stay connected to the world. Besides the magnificent Behala mansion in Kolkata, Sourav Ganguly also owns a 2-BHK luxurious flat in London, UK. As per reports, in 2008, Ganguly purchased an apartment in the North Harrow neighbourhood of London. Chandidas Ganguly, the father of the former cricketer, stayed in this apartment in London while undergoing treatment for a heart problem.

This two-bedroom apartment, 45 minutes away from Central London, offers spectacular views of the Thames and the London Eye.

Sourav Ganguly hails from an affluent family in Kolkata. His father, Chandidas Ganguly owned a printing business and; it was the third-largest in all of Asia. Hence, business runs in his blood. Following his opening partner, Sachin Tendulkar, Ganguly opened a four-storied multiplex restaurant named – ‘Sourav’s – The Food Pavillion’ in Calcutta’s posh locality Park Street. However, the restaurant had to shut down as Ganguly was preoccupied with travelling for cricket tournaments and numerous other engagements. 

In addition, Sourav Ganguly is also the co-owner of the Indian Super League (ISL) team Atletico de Kolkata in partnership with the Spanish club Athletico Madrid.
